View Full Version : Jaouad Zairi (the African Maradona)

zairi

jaouad zairi is the player deportivo need he is a right winger who is very dangerous when he has the ball in uefa cup he played versus inter milan and zanetti had trouble catching him he is like cristiano ronaldo but much more agressive for the ball and more technique and less losing ball possesion he is now playing with fc sochaux and is considered one of the best youngsters that played in african cup of nations

Djalminha

i believe that depor can use more players who like to take more risks in offence and who can put the strikers in front of goal zairi is 21 and has a great potential he is very fast and can really make the defenders crazy and he is not to lazy to run back to defence to steal the ball back

agree with you, I saw him play a few times, and he looked good :) But don't forget the rules in Spain... only 4 non Eu players

Yup he got some nice moves and is also a fast player. Could be a interesting player for the right wing together with Víctor, but I doubt if he can also play for the team..

Your right "Zairi" !!!
He is amazing! I downloaded those videoclips that you
have put here. He is so fast and technical....I would be pleased
to see him wearing depor's shirt.
I'm in the fanclub now.....ZAIRI ZAIRI ZAIRI! ! ! ! :howler:

zairi
09-04-2004, 14:59
what do you meen i doubt it if he can play for the team he is a very good teamplayer and you could see that in the african cup of nations 2004 and in these videoclips

I was the man who recommend Zairi for at least a year ago.
I've been following him extra this season and I have seen all his matches in thr french legaue and the UEFA.
You can't say that he's a starter for his sochaux but he's the one that plays the most beside the first 11.
But he will definrly be a starter next season when Frau might go to Lyon but according me, I don't like to see Zairi signed as a Attacker because He isn't.
He's a natural right-midfielder.

And these zairi freestyle is nothing compare what I've seen him done.
i remeber for some weeks ago they played against Monaco and the right defender Ibarra was a victim when he was abused by Zairi moves.
Zairi made 7 tunnels against Ibarra and loads of other weird things.

zairi
09-04-2004, 23:19
yes he is an amazing player the most talented youth player from africa i think and some french papers call him ""the last dribbler""(le derniere dribbleur) i know that cristiano ronaldo is a dribbler too but he can only do a few things with the ball on the pitch and zairi can combine all the moves and make up new ones to help his team and i think he is just stuck there with sochaux he told a website that he has received some good offers but that he will stay if some players move away

Djalminha
10-04-2004, 19:23
we should see it as an advantage that he does not play in the first 11 i sochaux. In that way he should not cost a fortune. But I agree we could very much use him.

Go Naybet recruite him...

zairi
10-04-2004, 20:06
i think that he would be useful but the want to sign chamakh too and i don't think they would sign two moroccans

Mattias
11-04-2004, 11:37
I took a look at the videos and they were smartly made, obviously if the situation after a trick led to nothing it was cut at once. This made me think of Denilson and Overmars who have very spectacular dribbling skills but have never made it to the world's elite because they aren't intelligent enough to know what to do with the ball after executing some moves. Also the fact that even at a French midtable club Sochaux the player isn't a starter should give a hint. It's great if he has spectacular freestyle tricks that you can pull off but can he do the regular consistant stuff we expect from a winger? Can he cross the ball accurately and make intelligent passes to strikers in the box?

USA is full of afroamerican street basketball players capable of impossible things with the ball but they never succeed in the NBA because they don't have the fundamental skills and consistency. The only thing they can challenge for in the NBA is turnovers per game...

I'm not saying this is the case with Zairi because I haven't followed him long enough but the fact that he has played 14 matches out of 30 and 5 of them as a starter at Sochaux and that there isn't interest from top clubs is something to consider.

Olli
11-04-2004, 11:54
You have a point here, Mattias. I am also a bit worried if he can
be useful for us. It's not enough that player can dribble he also
have to have vision on the pitch otherwise he's no use...
But I dunno...I haven't really followed him so much.
Well see if he's the next Maradona. :undecide: ..

riazor_lover
11-04-2004, 17:37
Mattias your wrong at that statement that scences were cut off because it didn't result to chances.
The freestyles videos are only to show him with the ball and nobody else.
He doesn't dribble all the time, he usally hit the ball from the side into the penalty area with a fine cross.
That thing with Zairi isn't a starter is because of coach Lacombe wants to play Frau as he's close to a transfer to Lyon and Zairi will for sure be a starter.
Zairi usally is subbed in when Sochaux is under with a goal and that proofs that the coach belvies that he can create chances.
The press are given him great reviews as a teamplayer.

Mattias
11-04-2004, 18:03
Frau is a striker and Zairi is a winger. Why can't they play together? If he was very good even as a substitute, I would expect him to play more than half of the total matches. The coach chooses a better player. If a guy like Frau is better than him then he will no way be able to handle la Liga.

riazor_lover
11-04-2004, 18:41
Frau and Zairi are two diffrent player, Frau is striker who are the second best scorer in the league.
Zairi has played a lot in sochaux don't where you got your info but it may not been updated and as I said Zairi will definelly be a starter next season in sochaux or in antoher club.
You most see him play before anyone of you can say he won't fit in la liga.
All I can say is wait and see.

Mattias
11-04-2004, 18:57
My information source for the French league is L'Equipe.

Current season

J.Zairi D1
Joués (matches played): 14 (out of 30)
Titulaire (starting):5
Remplaçant (substitute): 9

J.Zairi Coupe de l'UEFA
Joués: 3 (out of 6)
Tit.: 1
Remp.: 2

previous seasons
01-02 Sochaux (France) 13 (matches played)
02-03 Sochaux (France) 16 (matches played)
this season 14: does this show some improvement?

Zairi's coach works with him week in, week out. There is no need for me to see the player live because I can simply trust his coach Guy Lacombe who knows all about him to see that he is not good enough to play first team football at a French league club.

zairi
11-04-2004, 23:57
yes you are very wrong the moroccan national team made it to the finals in africa cup and zairi was always the starter and one of the best player on the pitch and that level is higher then the french league when he wasn't there in the finals because he was too sick we were missing some force in the attack and you can see in that videos that he creates chances for santos but that tunisian dwarf can't score in front of goal and if deportivo don't want to sign him then don't because he will definetely join a top team and deportivo can only watch and cry http://jaouad.zairi.free.fr/videos/zairifreestyle6can.zip

Mattias
13-04-2004, 11:59

Zairi will play with Morocco's national team when they are facing Argentina on Wednesday the 28th of April.
The match will be broadcast at eurosport and I'm sure that almost everyboydy have eurosport.
The match will begina at 23.00 CET I think and if you don't have something importent going on, why not watch the game and see how Zairi plays.

zairi
02-05-2004, 22:55
zairi admitted in an interview that inter milan, paris saint german and some clubs from england and spain including real sociedad have serious interest in him and that sochaux want at least 3 million euro to let him go and that they want him to sign a new contract for at least another year

if zairi wasn't a good player inter milan would never show interest this is a new freestyle video of him with some great goalshttp://jaouad.zairi.free.fr/videos/freestyle7.zip

Mattias, you're joking or do you really think Zairi is only "good" or "average" player? After you have seen these clips of him playing I must say he's excellent!

riazor_lover
05-05-2004, 16:25
Mattias thinks that he dosen't promote the team very well but the last game sochaux played he gave his the victory when he scored in 6th minute and gave an assistant to Frau when Zairi did 3 players away at the leftside of the pitch.
He was subbed off in 6oth minute because the trainer Lacombe didn't want to have Zairi in the injurylist when the oppents acted aggressive towards him.

All I can say is that his breakthrough will soon be a reality perhaps already next season.

06-05-2004, 05:51
yes,Zairi is a talent considering his age.But the question is does Irureta like him? the 8.5M euro doesn't seem to be a big problem, after all,we have offered 12M to get Luque.

depor_china

where do you have this number from?

zairi
08-05-2004, 23:45
i can say to you zairi is a very good winger who will be very useful for depor and i concluded that after i saw the second leg against porto victor wasn't very good and luque was the only winger trying to do something but he didn't have the ability to get around a couple of defenders and zairi showed that he can drive every defender crazy

zagalinho
12-07-2004, 22:45
Ronaldinho said that, actually, zairi is one of the most talented players

zairi
13-07-2004, 22:19
yes but i can't understand why he is still at sochaux he probably wants to improve himself and if deportivo wants him they should act fast cause when he is going to athens for the olympics and i am not sure that he will go because they want to save him for the world cup qualifier against tunisia he will get only more expensive and more of the leading clubs will try to get him and that will make it very difficult for depor

mig_superdepor
14-07-2004, 10:59
Have depor actualy shown any interest in this player. He looks a brilliant talent, but does depor know about him? I guess we should all write a petition on him...lol

HasanTristan
14-07-2004, 14:20
He should not be called the african maradona, but the african Ronaldinho.
His playing style and his appereance are exactly the same as Ronaldinho.

He's a kind of player that people pay money for to watch.
I've enjoyed watching him during the africa cup.
Super dribbles, great skills.
His only weakness for now is that he holds on to the ball too long.
But he's young, he will improve.(Maybe at Depor ;) )

zairi
14-07-2004, 15:23
yes that is his only weakness but he is a good teamplayer who combines very good with his teammates and i don't think that a team can buy zairi from sochaux this season because they won't let him go but he said himself that he is planning to stay one more season with sochaux and then he will move on maybe to depor :)

zairi
14-07-2004, 15:28
Ronaldinho said that, actually, zairi is one of the most talented players

where did you see that he said that

zagalinho
15-07-2004, 00:50
Zairi said that is a team can pay his buy-out clause (3 million), he will leave sochaux. So I think that at this price, Deportivo should buy him.

Why ??? :(
I really wanna see him playing in Spain !!
I dont like the french Ligue 1 and I think he can play in a better club than Sochaux ...

I have never understood why Guy Lacombe (Sochaux's coach) doesnt trust him and let him most of the time on the bench ...
Thats really unfair that's why he has to leave sochaux soon !

18-12-2004, 00:07
zairi has only been linked with inter milan, PSG,real betis but with the form that he has now at the end of this season we i think he will have a lot more offers. he is now a starter for sochaux and he is still young and sochaux wants him too extend his contract but i don't think he will sign because he outgrew sochaux, he is the pilar of the attack and without them they don't create much.

chamakh wants too leave after this season too so if i was depor i would get him because the strikers like pandiani are not doing much and chamakh is a great prospect but he is also a player who can be there NOW.

A very overrated player if you ask me!

Yes he is very skillful, has brilliant tricks and good technique but whenever I see him he goes missing in games for long periods of time and simply doesn't get involved. He should be creating a lot more as well as scoring reguarly but this is not the case (6 starts in the league with 1 goal).

I'll make a comparison:

Ronaldinho does many tricks during games but also finds time to score crucial goals and make many goals for others. Zairi on the other hand does many tricks during games but also finds himslef sitting on the bench, not scoring enough goals and creating no where near the required amount for an attacking midfielder.

Sorry about the sarcasm but it was too difficult to resist having another go :D

He is a skillful player who won't cut it at the top level and I will no longer post in this topic......honest ;)

zairi doesn't score coz his trainer doesn't give him the cance to do that, and when he makes him play, he tells him to keep the ball and to lose time.
When he plays with morocco at home, he is excellent.
the match with kenya he scored 3 goals.
Kenya

His agent won't be able to sleep for weeks as every top club in the world will be enquiring about him

You're laughing but it seems to me that during the 1998 world cupn, Morocco beated Scotland by 3-0, like they did against Kenya, so Kenya and Scotland are ... ;)

This is a classical discussion in this forum... Please use your imagination when discussing a player there dont have to be any relation between how a player will play for Depor and how often he plays now for a french club.

A flower will only grow under the right conditions...

zairi has been a little out of form at this moment and i am glad sochaux is letting their coach go because every other coach would let zairi play he is a very skillfull player he only needs more minutes to learn more about the timing of his dribbles.

i think depor would only make him better he certainly has the potential to be one of the best wingers in the world.

I read that it was gonna be only a 6 month loan deal. Is it?
he's only going there 'cause he would be able to play asian champions league and he could reach the intercontinonatl cup.
But believe me that he's going to shine with Morocco in the African nations cup, in the first preparation game he played better than ever against R.D. Congo and he's counting on the national team to recover his form 'cause he doesn't get a lot of minutes with sochaux.
