The draw in Zurich is seeded, based on Fifa's world rankings, with the games to be played on 12 and 16 November. The Czech Republic (ranked fourth), Spain (eighth) and Turkey (12th) will be in one pot. They will each play a team from the other pot containing Norway (37th), Switzerland (38th) and Slovakia (45th). The play-offs will be played over two legs to decide the final European representatives in Germany. The teams already through from the European zone are Germany (as hosts), Ukraine, Holland, Poland, England, Croatia, Italy, Portugal, Sweden, Serbia & Montenegro and France. The other global play-offs see Australia take on two-time World Cup winners Uruguay while Bahrain play Trinidad & Tobago.
