Yes, I agree. But too young for Spain. The difference between Belgian and Spanish soccer is huge.
Ah well, the difference between Sergio and him probably isn't at the moment...

I thni you're overrating him just a bit. I'm not saying he's not good, but there's a HUGE difference betwee belgium and spanish football, as depororiginal also said.

Well, a friend of mine who's working in Barcelona as journalist and used to live in Belgium (just like me), sent me some months ago a few videos about/from Defour and I should say that this guy looks amazing.

Ajax, Anderlecht and, of course, Chelsea seem to be interested in him.

Well yes he is very good. He is my bet to win the award next year of best football player in Belgium of 2006. (this year's award went to Conceicao). I placed my bet on January the fifth

But still don't know if he'd break through with a big team. I won't recommend a lot of Belgian players to "big" clubs at the moment... Except Kompany, Buffel, Van Buyten and Salou

and maybe Vandamme

Look at Jaja Coelho of Westerlo who went to Getafe this winter. Together with Salou he was by far the best on the Belgian fields at the time. He could have gone to Club Brugge, Anderlecht or Auxerre, where he would have gotten a lot of chances to play. Instead he went to Getafe... Have you heard of him ever since?
Salou stayed in Waregem, but because of an ankle problem he suffered last month against Moeskroen he still isn't in top form right now, and he still is good. He is smarter, he'll go to Anderlecht or Brugge next year, where he'll play a lot. And maybe after that he can look for a bigger club in a big league. But now it's too soon. Same for Defour, but probably a club will buy him and loan him out for some time...

kompany is too expensive. lyon wants to buy him for 15million euros so

defour will cost i think 1 or 2 millions or less.maybe 350 000 i dont no

Defour is also something totally different than Kompany.
I don't think he would make this team a lot stronger. He's good, of course, but he still ain't no Valeron, Duscher (or scaloni

Genk have insisted that despite the interest surrounding Steven Defour the midfielder will stay in Belgium. Clubs including Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Ajax and Chelsea have all been linked to the talented teenager after a series of wonderful displays in the Belgian league. Now, in a bid to ward off such interest, Genk technical director Areil Jacobs has said he is confident the player will stay put after just signing a new contract with the club. "We know there are a number of clubs watching, Chelsea are one, along with Ajax, Bayern Munich and Barcelona," Jacobs told Sky Sports. "However, it is not in our plans to let Steven leave - as he doesn't want to go. He has just signed a new contract and he knows his future would be best served in Belgium. We are not worried as he is an intelligent young man and is happy."

So I doubt he'll come to Deportivo
