Default (La Liga) Deportivo 0v1 Real Betis Mar 4 2007 (Post Match Comments)

Well I suppose it had to end some time but losing the unbeaten tag in 2007 was always going to be dissapointing, especially at home to a team lower in the table than us.

Sounded like the same old story upfront with us failing to take our chances dammit. If we had a natural goalscorer, I honestly think we could challenge for the European places but we're relying on the law of averages to score goals and then hoping that our defence keeps a clean sheet at the other end.

Very dissapointing.

i just wonder how did capa manage to cripple riki, he was one of the better players of the league last year, but now he is a 45minute player if he is lucky

he is comming back from an injury and he has been a major part of the great year 2007... today Depor was without the luck that Betis had...

I think Depor have had their share of luck during the past weeks....

Anyway, it indeed had to end one day. I remain delighted with what we've shown the past weeks including today against Betis. In December we feared to become one of the worst teams of the Primera.

Now we're a mid-table team for the rest of the season. Like Rik says, a natural goalscorer (like Zaragoza have in Diego Milito) could make the difference.

Still, this situation is not bad considering our young squad and difficult financial situation. Especially not if we make it to the Copa final.

I'm satisfied with the performance, we were hell of a lot more dangerous than last week at Anoeta. Especially Estoyanoff finally played a really good match. We weren't going to reach the 6th spot anyway and we're not gonna relegate either so the result is not really important. At least our good run didn't end with a disappointing performance.

Disappointed to see the run end, but we're not a consistent team yet and I expected something like this to happen soon enough. Our defence is playing well, but too much pressure is on them to keep the clean sheet considering we almost never score more than one goal a game. We have and still are in desperate need of a striker who can finish, we have 0 on our current team, Bodipo definitely was NOT the solution either. We need a 25+ year old striker with experience to finish some of the chances we create.

It will be very difficult to finish in Uefa spots IMO even though there are many games left, our last hope is Copa and I think Capa knows this as well. He will put his best 11 in the remaining Copa games, let's see who we draw

I wasn't expecting us to continue our unbeaten run to the end of the season but still dissapointed...

Our defence is very well; but we badly need an experienced striker if we are to aim to the top half of the table...
