Default European Transfers (not involving Spanish clubs) Season 2011-12

Liverpool have signed midfielder Sylvain Marveaux from Rennes on a Bosman. Four-year deal with the option of a fifth. Don't know anything about this guy, but the carousel has started.........

The Liverpool deal for Jordan Henderson of Sunderland is for stg£20m. It might seem like an awful lot of money for a young midfielder but when you factor in that David Ngog has gone in the opposite direction as part of the deal (worth a reported stg£7m) then it doesn't seem that bad at all.

Arsenal have snapped up defender Carl Jenkinson from Charlton. He's the captain of the Finnish U-19 team.

From this point of view, it still seems pretty bad

It's getting to the stage in England, where you almost imagine that a player is valued at a certain price and then someone says, "Oh hang on, he's English, better double the price".

There has to be much better value for money on the continent that this deal represents.

And it looks like Man Utd are going to pay £16m for Blackburn defender Phil Jones

Just crazy !!!!!

For the half of that money they could perfectly sign Colotto.

Agree with you all - it's crazy money. But these new FIFA rules that are coming in which allow only a small percentage of foreign nationals in your squad is also having a bearing on the prices.

Not to mention the absolutely ludicrous public statements from the Liverpool owners since they took over that they were going to base their project around young British players. How did they expect to get value for money after saying things like that? Obviously, every club owner was going to put mad prices on the heads of his young British players.

For me, this transfer and the one for Andy Carroll at Christmas are the signs that we've reached the pinnacle of madness. It's only a matter of time before the EPL goes bust.

We're supposedly signing Ashley Young for about £16 million because, y'know, Valencia and Nani can't do it all on their own down the right. We're also signing some young, relatively unknown guy from Blackburn for an extortionate amount because, y'know, all of the cool kids are paying too much.

I honestly can't wait. For lack of a more abrupt phrase on a family friendly forum, this league can go and do some unpleasant things to itself.

I hope it does implode to be honest because it's just got too surreal. It's got to the point where even if players are let go relatively cheaply because theyre surplus to requirements, teams on the continent have to hope they are prepared to cut their wages significantly. Those most at risk of gong bankrupt are the pretenders imo. Your Uniteds, Chelseas and Liverpools can obviously splash the cash and City are backed with millions but if any smaller club tries to do a "Depor" their chances are minimal imo (unless they have a really rich investor behind them)

It's most a matter of decisions, i guess. The EPL has gone bust, since a few seasons ago, with those ridiculous debts, each club have. Point is, that the clubs, don't care much, as long as there isn't someone kindly ask them, to start paying their debts...

Hungarian football society is shocked, that Dzsudzsák leaves PSV Eindhoven for Anzhi Mahackala... The Dutch club is gonna receive 12M EURs, while the winger is gonna earn 3M EUR. Now the player is shocked about the Hun responses. Even myself tries to block this contract, with telling the Russians need Depor's Guardado for that money

One rich guy invested in them this year. Roberto Carlos is playing there. After 11 games they are going at 3-rd place in Russian league. I think in 2-3 years, it will be a competitive club.

Things are hotting up in the English Midlands. Alex McLeish has quit as manager of Birmingham City and joined their fierce city rivals, Aston Villa. The funny thing is that it is the Villa fans who are more furious about the appointment. He's got no chance right from the start.
