Agreed, could just be a negotiation tactic by his agent.

totally agree, it would be foolish to leave if he is looking for money and a better club.

this guy is a gold digger, if good money comes he will leave even to China.
I hope he stays and we can renew him for 1.5 years

He's been brilliant for us, much better than expected, and I really hope he stays, but unfortunately I'm afraid he'll be leaving. Tonight well could have been his last match with us. The fact that GG subbed him in the last minutes to receive an outstanding ovation, with Riazor singing "Babel quédate" (Babel stay) made me think that. Also after the game I heard an interview with Navarro, and asked about Babel he said how important he had been for the team, and that they also sang "Babel quédate" to him in the dressing room, though they don't know what he's going to do, as (according to Navarro) he didn't tell them anything about that yet.

Back in 2005 (i think) i happened to be at Amsterdam and watched a home game of Ajax.
Babel was the emerging star, and you could tell from his movement that he was exceptional (but also was absent at some parts of the game).

At his good moments nowadays, he is as good as he was back then which is amazing considering the twist in his career.

I also realized, as Xose said, after yesterday's sub that he is leaving Depor, and sure if he now has the chance for a last huge contract (at Besiktas maybe) let it be.

We gave him a chance when nobody did.. I hope he stays, but it's also true he helped us with his game, so looking forward what will happen with him.

I guess he is going for the kind of money that is being offered if the reports are correct.. 1.7m euros per season at this stage of his career is huge for him..

of course it was.. he did well for us, surpassing all over expectations.. I wouldn't turn against him if he is interested in a big contract towards the end of his career..

Well, i also heavily critised his signing back than. But him doing much better than expected will not erase my doubts if he decides to suddenly leave us just a couple of months later. We're not advancing anything that way.
Of course, if he stays.....
