Default COPA Q-Final (2nd Leg) | Sevilla 0v1 Deportivo| 27-01-2010 | (Post-Match Comments)

We're out of the cup but our youngsters helped make sure we went down fighting and restored some much needed pride. Seoane, Rochela and Dani Rodriguez were all given their debuts and with Juan Dominguez, Ivan Perez, Laure, Adrian and Manu playing, it must have been one of the youngest teams we ever put out; blended with the odd "old head".
Bodipo scored a rare goal stretching to reach a P.Alvarez cross and finding the back of the net. Unfortunately, he was later subbed after becoming the latest victim of the injury curse that has struck us.

It's never nice to go out of a competition but under the circumstances, I'm very happy with the way things went.

EDIT Damn you Carlos !!! You just beat me to it

As long as we weren't embarrassed and we debut some Fabril players I am happy....now to focus on La Liga.

PS: the score is wrong on the thread name...we won 1 - 0...not Sevilla

Completely forgot this game was happening till I came on here! Looks like the guys did a good job anyway. Decent pride-restoring away win, and some good experience for the youngsters.

Very positive result. I thought performance was 'meh', tbh, but the same can definitely be said for them, too.

What lacked was tension and motivation. Had Alvarez not gotten the pass from Juan Dominguez to serve Bodipo a goal, I think this game might have ended with something like 3 shots on goal in total. Both teams had sloppy passes, slow build up, and not really 100% committed attacking, and that just won't work. In the 2nd half we did well, and had a bit more, but with Navas and Kanoute - fresh and motivated - coming on, the circumstances were tough. However, I think we dealt with it decently, and top grades to Manu for pulling out some superb saves. Our full backs stood out a bit as well, IMO, as they were needed in attack, and got there, while also completely removing the likes of Perotti and Capel out of the game, while dealing with Navas well.

Anyway, Riazor on Saturday. Only one injury more.

This is the player rating of our player from www.goal.com.
Seems some of our youngster failed to impress them...but who cares while they impressed us!!

Sevilla
Javi Varas - 6 / Adriano - 6 / Marc Valiente - 5 /Ivica Dragutinovic - 6 / Fernando Navarro - 5 / Aldo Duscher - 6 / Lolo - 7 / Koffi Romaric - 8 / Diego Perotti - 6 / Diego Capel - 7 / Luis Fabiano - 6
Substitutes
Julien Escude - 7 / Jesus Navas - 7 / Frederic Kanoute - N/A

Deportivo La Coruna
Manu - 7: Kept a clean sheet thanks to two spectacular saves in the second half.
Laure - 6: Dealt with Sevilla's wingers adequately, but failed to provide any attacking support.
Piscu - 7: Shackled Luis Fabiano for most of the match, frustrating him in the process.
Ze Castro - 5: Not his best performance, caught out a few times, especially once Navas came on.
Seoane - 6: Looked decent until Navas was introduced, after which he appeared decidedly nervous.
Juan Rodriguez - 5: Not as commanding as usual, stayed back and failed to contribute in attack.
Juca - 6: Full of hustle and bustle, but not enough creativity.
Ivan Perez - 6: Showed flashes of creativity, but they were all too rare.
Juan Dominguez - 4: A completely anonymous performance
Pablo Alvarez - 7: Did well to set the goal up, and was easily the most threatening player for Depor.
Rodolfo Bodipo - 6: Took his goal well, but did little else.
Substitutes
Dani - 3: Contributed nothing after coming on.
Adrian - N/A
David Rochela - N/A

In 1998 Depor played (against Vallalodid) with 8 Fabril players.
Five starters (Aira, Pinillos, Padín, Maikel and David) and another three came in later (Deus, Maikel y Toni).
I don't know about the ages, but I am sure both are in the top 5 of youngest teams

but they all played at the same time, right? is that allowed? yesterday Carlso was saying that only 4 Fabril players are allowed at the same time on the pitch right?

After the sad news about Felipe, last nights performance was a well needed boost.

Very proud of the team as a whole.

Positive result here, we've beaten Sevilla at the Pizjuan both games we've played there this season. I wish we had the same luck at the Riazor...

I was only able to see from the 60th minute on, looked like a very dull match, but the win is big here. Especially for our youngsters. Players like Manu, J Dominguez, and Seaone saw alot of minutes against a team of Sevilla's caliber and that will give them confidence. I heard Seoane had a strong first half, but I couldn't see.

Most importantly, well played by Lotina. He took out the starters (Juca, P Alvarez) for Saturday early on and gave debut to 3 players, congrats to them.
