Default Trying to look on the bright side...

Inspired by the story in the news section encouraging everyone not to get too depressed over the lack of signings, I've been thinking.

To be honest, my main worry was that we'd lose one of our big stars - it seemed like big clubs were after Andrade and Luque, in particular. In the end, only Naybet left (and he's getting older - we did well to get cash for a player of that age).

So my main fear has not been realised. We still have a decent squad with several international class players. Obviously, the signing of, say, Maniche would have given everyone a psychological lift, but we should not overlook how good our best players are.

True, we look one or two players short of being truly unbeatable (and I hope we get more defenders in the winter) but, so long as we avoid too many injuries and suspensions, we're still a strong team.

I agree. I prefer this team over Luque or Andrade gone and a new player in.

I agree; we have kept the core of the team. Naybet was the only starter we have lost and he wasn't getting younger. Without his wages and Djalminha's our day to day economy will have a certain relief.
Next season we will lose Mauro Silva and Fran; Fran is a substitute nowadays and Mauro is the key factor we should replace next summer. They are our 2 best paid players and I guess Lendoiro could be more agressive with the hirings by then.

All very good points. Now I feel a bit relieved I guess Lendoiro knows what he's doing.

yeh, i was also thinking that, but my main worry is for the future, i mean i thought it would be perfect for a new defensive mid toi come this season, so we could phase him in, but next season when mouro retires we will have to rest all our weight on one player straight off so i think it will be harder next season...

as for now? i think this season will be fine, its just next season im worrying about to be honest....

My main worry is Jabo. I hope that he doesnt lose his ambition because of latest events.

He thought that new signings were needed and in the end from all players that were related none of them was signed. Not even Acciari (who isnt really a Depor caliber to be honest). It seems like his opinion doesnt matter.

And to top everything Leondiro loaned Jaime who Jabo would keep if he knew that no new signings would be made.

Leondiro played a very bad summer this time!!!

still, same important as a new player is -according to me- the shrink for the team (motivation manager, something like that). And this we also didn't get i believe.

the rolling banner at soccerspaindotcom claims that 'Depor tie up Rariz for December and register Acciari pending RFEF decision'

that sounds good but i must admist i have no idea who rariz is nor have i seen acciari play to know whether hes good enough. Im really worried that Deportivo wont even finish top 4 this year - i know the squad has gelled well but RM & Barca seem really strong now that theyve sorted their difficulties ..

I felt pretty much the same last year after Makaay was sold but then Pandiani started to score and i was a happy kid again. Heres hoping.

heres hoping Jabo wont resign out of depression

Acciari won't come now and neither in December. About Rariz: he is a right winger but nobody knows if he is the right choice for us we only buy the 50% of his contract and that fact show to us that Lendoiro isn't sure about him.

Besides, he is 27 and never played before out of Uruguay, his first calling to the national team has occur in the lasts days. He will be on the bench for the game against Peru on Sunday.

I think our squad is very "thin" in this year

we only have 21 players (I don't count Changui as much) and without 3 keepers we have only 18. You can't finish the whole season in high with so little amount of players(RM in last year is a very good example).

Now i can just hope we won't have any serious injury esp. valeron and one of our DC, as we don't have any long term replacement on that positoin (Fran is too old to start for most matches)

i think lendoiro wanted to get rid of abreu and get some cash if possible.. so as he didnt get money he wanted anything that could be useful to us..... thats why he agreed that 50% of an unknown player.... i doubt even he has seen rariz
