Default LIGA | Feb-06-2015 | matchday 22 | Depor 2 - 0 Eibar | Post-match comments

52' Lucas Pérez 1-0
79' Cavaleiro 2-0

Boring game against an extremely poor rival. We didn't make any defensive mistakes, and managed to score goals after two howlers in Eibar's defense.

Vital 3 points, and we're continuing our positive run (11/18). We still need to improve a lot though. We played a mature game, but that won't be enough against stronger opponents. Still, great attitude by the players today (despite plenty of selfish moves at times), leaving us hopeful for the rest of the season.

I thought the match itself wasn't actually boring, it was quite intense. What made it seem boring was the relative lack of chances. Tactically the players did an excellent job, in terms of control, pressure, build-up and concentration this was our best game again IMO.

However, the problem was that Cavaleiro had an awful day, Lucas not at his best either, and there's not much to expect from Cuenca anyway. That often killed our game in the last third.

Players like Lopo and Alex doing this well at build-up and passing even under pressure is something I never thought I'd see, especially Alex has actually been looking like a Primera player lately. If these last games don't show the coach is doing something right I don't know what does, and I'll even say this: We haven't played better/more coordinated football since the Irureta days. (that's actually kind of sad)

It's always hard to say how much of a role the opponent's level plays but under coaches like Caparrós, Lotina, Oltra, FV we didn't even play like this against Tercera sides.

Glad we this win Eibar did not do muche so it was easy game only it was waiting unthil we scored and we did thanks to their mistakes in defens. It is good we keep ading the points but we are far from save.

Quite impressed by our fullbacks today. VF has made a good job with the defence. Really looking forward to the Celta game.

Well it was definitely a pooring game, tactically the coach did well, we made pressure and moved quiet fast compared to previous game where we would move the balll to back and send long balls looking for gabs.

Some players had an awful game compared to their real performance and they still scored
LUCAS and Ivan!

Alex showed improved in ball movement, lopo more solid and our full backs were great

I still wonder why Salumao wasnt called to such type of game and the new very young Helder being so!, i dont believe the crap about need to work hard cause everyone here knows the quality that Salomao bring at the left wing

three points. we weren't great but looked purposeful at least!

I cant help thinking the presence of Celso and Lucas is starting to change us.

people say poor goalkeeping. this is true but on that first goal if we didn't have a tall dominant striker keeper would have caught it easy and there wouldn't be a chance to knock it in. Helder Postiga (yes he still plays for us) would have half jumped then dived and appealed for penalty.

One thing I notice last couple games is Lucas screaming at others when they don't give him the ball infront of goal. Yes he is hungry for the team to win but not sure if screaming at teammates two games in a row is good or bad. hmmm. something to watch.

I totally agree. I thought Celso had a sneaky good game. Just seemed to be at the right place at the right time to get the ball or make the pass.

We also took our chances against a team that looked like they never got out of their trainers. Insua had a pretty solid game too.

WTF! I was convinced the game was tomorrow

Anyway, Im really happy that we already have the three points in the bag and that I didn't had to suffer watching, according to some of you, a boring game.

It wasn't an exciting game, but the 3 points are the important.
Plus, Lucas' shot accuracy is super in this season, 3 shots and 3 goals!

I say let Lucas yell at them for now. It's time someone stepped up and lit a fire under their butts on the pitch. Even if it sounds selfish on his part it shows he's trying to take charge on that pitch. Something we've been missing since Marchena and Culio.

Man of the match

Happy to win 6 out 6 points vs Eibar. This is the games that we must win at home vs a direct rival, i know they collected 27 points in 1st round but still they are relegation candidates imo.

There not a relegation candidate if they end up as they do in the first round
