Leon is an unknown quantity at this point
Default Marco Rubén (attacker, Argentina, now at Villarreal/loaned to Recreativo)

Last year, River Plate paid $7.5 million for Rubén who’s now 21. Recently he obtained Abreu (31, ex-Deportivo), as a colleague.

With an eye on the goals Deportivo need right now and the price paid by River Plate recently, I’m sure he won’t come.

I am not sure about those $7.5 million Leon, what I read is that they are only asking for €2.5 million to Depor. As I said in other post, the main target is to sign Suazo, if we can't get him, then the choice is this guy.

Ruben would bring something which we maybe lack in the final third - genuine pace. I'd liken him to Makaay (obviously not as good) but he has a similar game to his royness and he likes to play on the shoulder of defenders, always looking to go in behind.

1st choice must be Ruben, not Suazo IMO...

I have nothing against him, I don't know him at all. Was he part of any kind of U-20, U-23, pre-olympics Argentinean International team.

That he cost River Plate $7,5 million comes from several sources. Has he become that bad his price has become half (2,5 million Euro = $3,75 million)?

Hasn't this to do that 50% of his rights belong to a company?

It's clear now, that company is asking 2.5 milion euro to Depor for the 50% of the rights.

I told you, this would end to be our signing.
In Depor Sport it cames today that this guy and Alfredo Moreno are more close to join Depor than Suazo and Kezman.

Maybe, the paper just say he and Moreno have the advantage.

I'm sure that he's a good prospect and will develop into a fine striker, but being only 21 I fear that it's like getting a new Xisco or Adrian. That's a good thing, but right now we need a more experinced striker with goals in the boots now, and not in 2-3 years IMO. I would prefer Suazo, but seems like he's out of the question now...

i dont want Moreno, no please.. but Ruben wud be a very gud signing.. if only these rumours are right.. Lierpool was chasing him earlier, but in the end, he went to River.. i still dont believe that he wud be available for anything like €3 million... but i do hope that i'm wrong..

Can someone tell me if Ruben is a starting striker at River or not? How important is he for them? A 'Colo' or a 'Xisco'? Always playing or playing sometimes?

They have several other strikers and have signed Sebastián Abreu just a few days ago so they could well do without him.

I told you we would end signing this guy, according to this article in an Argentinean paper, he's coming on loan: http://www.eldia.com.ar/edis/20080113/deportes9.htm

The article is talking about Estudiantes de La Plata, this club -the same one of Pablo Alvarez- wase trying to sign a striker called Leandro Lázzaro, since the transfer failed, they went for Ruben, the article says the response of River was: "Ruben would be loaned to Deportivo, and the deal will be closed in the next hours."

He was starter in 20 of the 38 matches played in both tournaments during the past year (Apertura y Clausura). He scored 7 goals.
