Default Hi,

I'm a Newcastle United fan, although I got a great liking for Deportivo la Coruna through Diego Tristan. I watched them go as a small club and rise into a European force but sadly it wasn't to last with the wage bill and which led to sales.

I have a great liking for Luque and despite all the problems he has had, the money we paid, the money we give him every week, I've been waiting for the right manager to come in and give him his shot, because he has the talent without a doubt to be one of the best players in the Premiership as he was in La Liga with Depor. Maybe I'm getting a bit ahead of myself though but this is his final season to prove to me that he is that player I adored in a Deportivo shirt. Getting back to my earlier point I believe Allardyce is the man to get the best out of Luque and if he can't do it, then Luque will never be the same again. His attitude this pre-season however has been brilliant, which makes me very optimistic.

Unfortunately sad times have hit the club with Diego leaving, Valeron getting older and injured more and most recently the loss of Andrade to Juventus. I believe they are in for a troubled season, however with the arrival of Andres Guardado I am adamant that Depor will not be relgated, but I also believe he will only be here for a season or two, then leave to a big club. However, we should recoup a lot of money from Guardado as he is already a very good player and the potential to get even better. I saw how Madrid splashed €30million on FC Porto's Pepe (who is a good defender but not worth that much by any means!) and I imagine doing a deal with those fools Calderon and Mijatovic would see us getting a great price for him.

Maybe not the most optimistic of thoughts, letting go of this talent who we will put most of our trust in this season coming. But I can't see him wanting to stay a Deportivo player for too long and that he only came here to estsblish himself as a name in Spain and around Europe and the money we could get for him would be crucial to re-building the club. Unfortunately Depor don't have the money to make these signings every summer.

Hard times ahead for Deportivo but being a Newcastle fan teaches you to stick through a club through thick and thin and that's what I will do no matter what happens.

Welcome to the forum LuqueNewcastle.

We're definately a club in transition but if the rumours of a secret investor are true, then the hard times might let up for a while, so there's room for a bit of a optimism. As dejan said too, even when we played crap football with many very average players and a manager that loved to see us play hoofball, we still stayed up pretty comfortably.

Let's just see if the new investor does exist and although I don't imagine there will be a bottomless pit of money, we might now be able to sustain a challenge for a European place of some sort, with the new blood.

Enjoy the forum and Howay the lads

Cheers lads, although I have been following Depor for around 6 years I still don't get to watch them much due to me not having Sky TV or anything and this is the first Depor site I have registered to, so I hope to learn and particpate while I am here too, the recent times are a little blurry to me in all honesty.

Welcome and enjoy the forum.

How is your local non league side doing these days? I always remember Blyth Spartans during their FA Cup run during the 1977-78 season. They eventually went out on a fifth round replay against Wrexham at St.James Park in front of 40,000 plus fans.

Thanks, Spartans at the moment in time have been doing well in the Conference North and could perhaps get promoted this season, one of my mates is going into the first team too but he's shite!

We got beat off Whitley Bay last season in the FA Cup which was a surprise but I don't follow the Spartans much, I've only lived in Blyth for two years and I'm moving very soon.
