Default Ex-Youth Player topic: Iago Beceiro (striker)

Name: Iago Beceiro Pereiro
Birthdate: 15.March.1993
Position: striker

This kid is amazing, he started on the past season playing for Cadete A, but scored so many goals that he was promoted to Juvenil C, again impressed everybody and for this season he was promoted to Juvenil A, a team of 17-year-old players, he was even picked to Spain's U-17 team... and he is only 16.

He's an article on him: http://www.deportivo-la-coruna.com/n-news.php?cid=2287

Haven't seen a second of him in action, but I already love him. We really need another Iago.

Is he from the region btw?

His pic suggests he needs to develop a lot physically, but he has time. The goal touch is one thing you won't find in a gym. Very promising.

Very promising indeed, I can't remember the last time we had such a young player called up to the national team. I believe Rochela/Chirri were the youngest that I can remember.

(From Zapping) 05/Oct/2009: 19h21: Juvenil A: 16-year-old striker Iago Beceiro joined today the trainings of Spain's U-17 squad; it's a concentration taking place between today and Wednesday and that will define the squad that will participate in the U-17 European qualifying tournament that’s taking place in Romania in one month.

Fair play to the young lad, but what has happened to him so far this season...he hasn't scored yet!! Come on Iago

EDIT:
12/Oct/2009: 16h23: Juvenil A: Striker Iago Beceiro wasn't picked for the UEFA U-17 European championship, apparently because coach Ginéz Meléndez thinks that he lacks the needed experience. During the past week Iago took part of a concentration that took place in Madrid, and the club was expecting to see his name on the final list.

A great pity for the lad

11/Mar/2010: 17h35: Juvenil A: On Wednesday the team defeated Lugo with a 3-0 score. That game was part of matchday 24 in Liga Nacional Juvenil, which was suspended two weeks ago due to the weather. The scorers were Alvaro, Juan Castro and Iago Beceiro.

On the scoresheet again

And what about now? he has scored 7 goals in the 7 games played with Juvenil A and has 2 assists. Can't wait to see him at Fabril.

great news!!

I do hope as well to see him in Fabril, though i feel that from his first day in Fabril people will start requiring "Drop Riki, Lassad etc, out, and bring Iago in!!"
