Wow, I was sure it was game over for Spain after Di Natale's goal (great sub, BTW). Nice work by Silva and Fabs.

Buffon took a big gamble on that one.

6 midfielders no strikers Del Bosque likes making things difficult as a Spaniard i predicted a tie after seeing the line up but hoped for a miracle =/
Then Torres rather than Llorente my TV nearly turned off.

Dutch people are clever!

Soldado would have buried those chances. I like Del Bosque as a coach, but I feel that he's gotten a little too sentimental. Torres should not be in the team.

Weirdest goal of the tournament thus far. It's going to be an uphill battle for the Irish now.

Had actually expected a lot more from Ireland. A lot missing defensively - they certainly won't be able to keep Spain and Italy from scoring with this kind of performance.

Still a lot of work for Croatia if they want to progress, but I have to say that this is the best Croatia I have seen on a big tournament since the WC '98. Of course, this was only one match and against not so great opponent, but it looks promising.

And boy, that Perišić is good.

Great game (technically) tonight between Italy and Spain. IMO, crazy Del Bosque got out of jail. No striker was criminal, but then to take off your goalscorer for a winger was mindboggling.

Ireland, not to put too fine a point on it, were a pub team with attitude who got what their tactics (and poor quality players) deserved.

But, we'll beat Spain 1-0 with a goal from Robbie Keane............

I had a feeling Trap's luck would run out last night, his tactics of inviting pressure just won't cut it at this level.

Looking forward to England-France tonight. Just can't wait to give my English relatives dogs abuse.

Looking at games like HOL-DEN, GER-POR and ITA-SPA, I'm not really looking forward to England - France. They'll go for a draw having in mind that weaker opponents are still awaiting. Hope they prove me wrong.

Talking about group C - I tell you - Croatia will be among top 2 of this group in the end, don't know who'll be the looser yet, but it won't be Croatia

Naprijed Hrvatska!

spain could have done with pedro in the second half. I didnt mind 'no striker', but it says a lot of what DB thinks about his strikers! Torres will have nightmares from his empty goal miss.

Ist half of Spain-Italy rather not interesting. Too much tactic... It was like a part of chess. 2nd half much better. Croatia-Ireland: very good game.
PS If someone from Italy is lamenting about the field and grass in Gdansk? I've read Fabregas tried to excuse yourself for a draw. I dont like players who are looking for mistakes behind them. Look at yourself - what was wrong in spanish team... Im a litlle disappointed after the game. Good skills, tiki taka etc. but there were no such a pressure, temperatue or bravery in Spa-Ita game,
game in Poznan was better
