I read from a Sevilla journalist that this guy can't defend well .. I'd like to also know why he has been sidelined at Betis? was it for technical reasons or because they wanted to sell him for Watford and don't count with him?

I can' decide whether you are kidding or not. We are speaking about a 26 years old player, who has less primera + segunda games than segunda b ones. Not to mention he was part of a Betis, that gained as many as 25 points and conceeded 78 goals.

I'm not kidding yet, When we got Marchena in 2012 he came from relegating Villareal and only started in 9 games that season. How a team do doesn't say much about an individual player, also you can't judge a player from one one bad season for the whole team.

About his age, he could be a late bloomer, we haven't watched him play yet to judge his signing as a failure. Btw, Canella has the same profile, CV and age.

I'd love to know why he's been sidelines at Betis please?

It was him who wanted to leave.

David Cartlidge mnetioned him as one of the five best signings made on deadline day

a decent attacking and defending fullback will not be bad.

I think its time we give someone else a chance. its been manny p and laure at that position for so long. they did their job but its time already.

if he made it to a deadline day top 5 in spain it must mean something right? i hope it works out i literally have no idea who these new signings are.

This is also what Victor Fernandez has to say about him:

I believe he’s one of the players that were the main revelations on last season. I know him perfectly and believe that he will be important to us. Possibly his offensive work is more emphasized than the defensive one, but is a very complete full-back, because he has energy. He’s intense and strong. He’s evolving and adapting to Primera. Modern football needs fullbacks with a long run, with presence at midfield and that can bring depth. I highly value these kinds of players.”

Marchena is a World and an European Champion. At least for a decade he showed quality. On the other hand, he had not got any offer for the last 2 summers, except from us.

Betis fans can't stand him now because he was the first who wanted to leave at the end of last season.

But despite this they all acknowledge that this guy was easily their best player and the only one who basically deserved to play at Primera. Certainly a great asset for us.

Not sure if DepHun has actually seen him play once...

for sure I saw Juanfran on the pitch, when Betis lost at home 0-2 against Sevilla in EL. I watched that game on TV. I also saw him when Betis lost 0-4 in La Liga against the mighty Biris N. So well, I saw him minimum twice, but I can't remember anything other, that he was part of Betis.

For example Sidnei gave me good impression whenever I saw him playing for Espanyol, on the place of Colotto. And I don't think I watch more Espanyol, than Betis.

I keep what I said in early Sept. Sidnei is more or less okay, Juanfran not OK

Really? I didn't expect too much from this guy, but for me he has been fine so far. Maybe because my expectations were really low.

Like I said in the poll - played in a wing back role in a stupid formation.

According to La Voz, he will sign a contract with Depor for the next four seasons.. we are paying to Watford for his transfer.. this is a very welcome news and could close the right back position..

It's 4+1 contract and radio Ser was the one that advanced the news
