Default UEFA Cup Draw | 7 October 2008 | 12:00

Great for our prestige would be a group consisting of AC Milan, Manchester City, Aston Villa and a team like Standard Liege.

For my own geographical reasons, I would prefer Schalke/Tottenham/HSV, Feyenoord, Hertha/Portsmouth/Kobenhaven and Luik/Twente/NEC/Wolfsburg.

An ‘easy’ group would be Benfica, Braga, Kobenhaven and MSK Zilina

It'd be a bit more organized to have the pots here, so I'll post those that Deporiginal made.

Pot 1
Milan
Sevilla
Valencia
Benfica
Schalke
CSKA
Tottenham
Hamburg

Pot 2
Stuttgart
Ajax
Olympiakos
Deportivo
Club Brugge
Spartak Moscow
PSG
Heerenveen

Pot 3
Rosenborg
Udinese
Feyenoord
Braga
Slavia Praha
Man City
Galatasaray
Sampdoria

Pot 4
Hertha
Partizan Belgrade
Nancy
Aston Villa
Portsmouth
Santander
Copenhagen
Dinamo Zagreb

Pot 5
Saint-Etienne
Wolfsburg
Standard
Twente
Nec
Metalist Kharkiv
Zilina
Lech Poznan

Aston Villa or Portsmouth would be really nasty for a team in Pot 4, while I definitely don't like to see us ending with Standard as well.

Benfica/Spurs(Ironically the worst team of all the English ones, taking in mind current shape), Rosenborg (if away)/Slavia Praha, Copenhagen/Partizan and one of Nec, Metalist and Zilina (I assume, names really don't say much to me), would be best group.

Of course, a group of Milan, Galatasaray/Feyenoord, Villa and Lech/Standard would be a lot more entertaining, but a lot more harder.

Anyway, the key to go through is simply to win the two home games. 6 pts. is without doubt enough. I do hope we draw FCK, though, and it's in Denmark.

OK from the east: Metalist Harkov/Harkiv could be quite bad, mainly away in December, in 50 cm snow.
Dinamo Zagreb, Partizan Beograd and Lech Poznan are stronger than Hajduk Split, but with the same Torcida-style ultras behind them.
Slavia Prague is the Czech champion, but seems to be beatable... They have a wonderful new stadium, called Eden. Good target for an away match.
Zilina is one of the weakest teams in UEFA Cup 2008/09, and I think it is not easy for the Westerns to go there. But for me it could be fine.

For geographical reasons Slavia, Zilina and of course Lech would be fantastic draw for me. I hope we won't get 'presitgeus' group, I don't need it yet, it will be enough time to gain prestige in knock-out stage

btw. why draw is so late? It usually was one day after games...

Perhaps because the Uefa consists of a bunch of lazy, incompetents?

The thought of having Galatasaray puts me in dilemma. Seeing Depor live would be a dream, but the chances of seeing both teams advance would not be so high cuz there are some decent teams in pots 4/5.

I really dunno what to expect

They were in Denmark a few months ago for pre season. Let them come to England first lol.

I'd prefer them to go to Nancy, NEC or Schalke Of course, I also have to be lucky enough that IF they draw one of these teams, Depor plays away from home. Plus I'm not home for the second game in the groups. I'll need to be incredibly lucky if I were to see them live.

At least you got three places. We have to stick our hopes to be drawn with Copenhagen.

As Rik says, they have been here. But that doesn't mean they can't come again??

Well, the closest one for me is still Standard (about 250 km). Nancy, NEC and Schalke are probably about 400-500 km away from my home. So it's not like I'm really lucky The best one would've been Club Brugge, which is only about 40 km from here, but they're in the same pot as Depor. It's a shame Lille didn't make it to the Uefa. Villeneuve d'Ascq is only like 15/20 km from here.

I would be happy with Milan and Standard in our group anyway, even if they're both home games. I'm sure Prime would broadcast the Milan game in Belgium, while Canvas/VT4/2BE would broadcast the Standard game.
