As you maybe know Russian gas giant Gazprom (title sponsor and now owner of FC Zenit St.Peterburg) bought Sibneft oil corporation (CSKA Moscow title sponsor) last year. So CSKA needed a new sponsor.

Yesterday the 2nd largest bank in Russia Vneshtorgbank signed papers with PFC CSKA Moscow and became the title sponsor of the club. The amount of 1-year contract is 7 million USD.

But generally it doesn't matter. I want to say about smth. else. From November 2005 I work in a daughter company of Vneshtorgbank. So from now on to be a loyal employee I must be CSKA fan!

2 news.

Sergey Semak signed 3-years deal with FC Moscow. This famous Russian player spent many years in CSKA Moscow but a year ago moved to PSG. Now he's back to his hometown but will play for another team.

FC Alania Vladikavkaz is deprived of a professional status. Alania (Russian champion 1995) relegated from Russian Football Premier League last year but now they even won't be able to play in the 1st division because of financial problems.

P.S. Damn it! Our new interface doesn't let me to rename the topic.

Question

Lokomotiv Moscow is on the way of signing 2 players:

Amr Zaki (Egypt, 22 y/o, forward) - 1,8 million euro, 3-year contract

Garry O'Connor (Hibernian, Scotland, 22 y/o, forward) - 2,78 million USD

Any info (or impressions) on these guys?!

O'Connor is a great sigining for them!!

He's fairly big, strong, good in the air, has good technique and pretty quick but his finishing isn't the best. If he could work on that aspect of his game then he could become a quality striker. If he gets enough games to make an impression he will be a big hit in your league .

It's so sad to hear abt Alania Do u remember their top scorer Nazim Souleimanov AP? He was then named "Hero of Vladikavkaz" for fantastic performence for them that season. The following year they were close to win the championship again, but lost against Spartak in the golden game and Nazim missed incredible chance to score, later was blamed by Valery Gazzaev (current CSKA coach) and left the squad because of poor relationship with him.

IMO Gazzaev never liked azeries, though he is osetin himself. He ruined Dima Kramarenko's career as well at CSKA by leaving him on the bench all the time. For me Dima has never been weaker than Mandrikin (who was their 1st choice at that time)

Some stats from Lokomotiv Moscow's official site:
Premier league: 4 games - 324 mins - 1 goal - twice substituted
Russian Cup: 2 games - 172 mins - 1 goal - once substituted

You see he's rather well. But Loko is doing VERY POOR. Their new coach Slavoljub Muslin is 100% crap. Loko played 8 games in this season: 2 draws + 6 losses! Awful result for one of the strongest clubs of last years.

Hiddink comes to Russia!

Facts:

On Tuesday Guus Hiddink officially announced that he was ready to work with Russian national team after the WC2006.

On Wednesday Russian Football Association confirmed that it was going to hire Hiddink to this position. According the contract Guus will work in Russia during at least 2 years and earn 5 million euros.

Guus Hiddink comes to Russia on Friday to sign papers.

IMHO:

I'm quite happy!

It was expected but anyway it's the greatest news for Russian football since year 2003 when we beat Wales 1-0 thanks to Vadim Yevseev's goal.
Moreover, i think it's the most important event ever for Russian football! (Don't mix up with Soviet football, please!)
