Default LIGA: 12.11.06 Gimnastic Vs Deportivo (pre-match comments)

The game against Gimnástic de Tarragona will be played this Sunday at 17h00.

In Primera, we have only faced Nástic in four times:

1948-1949 ---> DEPORTIVO 6 -- GIMNASTIC 2
1948-1949 ---> GIMNASTIC 1 -- DEPORTIVO 4
1949-1950 ---> GIMNASTIC 3 -- DEPORTIVO 2
1949-1950 ---> DEPORTIVO 1 -- GIMNASTIC 0

Nástic has lost its last five liga games, and they haven't won at home yet.

That should be comforting news but the last word seems the most worrying for me. This is just the kind of banana skin we seem to slip up on.

I think it's a tough match!! I watched their game against Real and they were good, even better at some moments though the score shows something different. They have Makakula Upfront and that man is a monster, our boys will strugle against him. Their best player on that match was Gil : Very fast and he is Brasilian so no need to talk about skills
But what's making me confident is that our midfield is much better and we could see the first game where we take advantage of it in an attacking view.

Ohh I forgot: a must win

Is that the same Gil who played at Corinthians a few years ago? If so, they certainly do have some attacking options.

No doubt that Nastic will make every attempt open their account at home, tough match... im predicting a draw...

Gil is injured and could miss the game.
By the way, Nástic lost today with Valladolid and they are out of the copa (1-3 at home)

did Gil come for some 1M euros, if thats true i ask our board what were they thinking, he is a better version of riki, left winger or striker. I think his contract runs out next year, we should do everything possible to get him on the free during the summer

hehe, oh come on, everyone is better than riki, and especially him. He kicked ass at corinthians, when they were the champion side, not now that they are a pathetic feeder club. And he is probably the best player from Nastic, i am absolutly sure he has the most talent in that team.
And about Capparos, he needs to be showing some fruit of his work very soon. We need to wait for Valeron, and then we should start playing something with an idea in attack, not just some random passes and hope for a mistake. We got very little penetration ability, and cant create many chances for our strikers. The link between the midfield and attack is cut of, non of our players can bring the ball forward, make a good pass or dribble someone and create space for others. We need to start playing something soon, i dont think we got a great tactical idea upfront, and the execution is not sparkilng either. I think we need to finish in Uefa spots, to survive in the financial sense, and have some money to continue the project, and get a few more players, sell a few players and get longerm replacements for some of our key older players. I must say that i think neither Iago nor Verdu are the next Valeron, i got more confidence in Carril, Iago, Cristian and Adrian.

I agree with Dejan84. Anyway I hope, that we will use another striking formation on this match. Estoyanoff on the right side (Arizmendi not even on the bench!) and kick out Riki from there - we have to try Adrian or Taborda.

offcourse Arizmendi needs to be on the bench... what a silly comment and how is it that we should play Taborda when he is always injured??

I'm sure for that as striker against Gimnastic should play Cristian! Riki on the left wing, lolo on the right and Verdu as playmaker! And in that squad we must win!

i think that cristian is too weak to play as a striker, if we got only one striker, we need a strong one like drogba, that can gain space with his body, and not be pushed around by the back two. Cristian needs to stay on the wing, where he can get the ball without someone on him, and can dribble and move down the line. But i still think that these young guys need some more physical work, or maybe just a few more games to get into the rythm of the first league
