Default LIGA - 23.09.2007 - Getafe vs Deportivo (pre-match thread)

We can't be too quick with looking forward to the next match....

Deportivo play at Getafe next Sunday. Getafe did pretty well in the Liga last year, played the Copa final and made some good signings this summer. Their new coach is Laudrup.

But things aren't going smooth until now. They led 0-1 at Sevilla (the Puerta-match) but ended up losing 4-1. Two of their players were sent off. Such a result can happen, but at home against Recre they needed a 94th minute goal to equalize Recre's late goal (1-1). Again, Getafe had a player sent off.

This Sunday they lost 1-0 at Espanyol in the final minutes. Getafe dominated, but again are without a win. They simply have problems scoring goals and now have leaked two late goals.

This Wednesday they play in The Netherlands at FC Twente, in the UEFA Cup tournament, which won't be an easy catch.

Overall, Getafe aren't exactly a smooth running team and have troubles scoring. Especially if we grab a goal there, everything seems possible. The speed of De Guzman, Riki, Guardado, Adrian etc. could do it.

Getafe isn't used to playing in Europe, so that could be an advantage for us. And like you said Leon, things aren't going well over there. Let's just hope for the best.

A win is definitely possible, but I would be satisfied with a draw aswell. Getafe has made some nice signings, and I'm sure they will find their form sooner or later. Anyways. I believe, that if we can continue having as many shots on goal as against Betis, we will win this one.

Getafe has got 4 red cards in the first 3 matches by the way.

If we keep up playing like this, we can beat them.

A win here would really crank up the team's confidence. I hope we play just like today but Riki finishes some of the chances.

The game has been scheduled for Sunday (20h00). Strangely, the eight games on Sunday have been scheduled at the same hour. It seems that the 'war of televisions' will continue.

Despite the confidence (that's good), let's not underestimate Getafe and overrate Depor.

Let's remain realistic. Getafe are vulnerable now and Depor have shown that everything remains possible this year. Remember that last year we had 14 points after 7 matches and had leaked just 5 goals. Against Real Madrid in January we looked like being able to beat the whole world. And both matches against mighty FC Barcelona were pretty good.

But a season takes 38 matches and we were simply not good last season. Our balance this year is: 1 disaster, 1 reasonable match and 1 great match. Was the Almeria match the exception or Betis? Any match is a final this year. And at Getafe our team can show their growth. Can we take something from a team aspiring for UEFA Cup football (at their own stadium), and possibly even play well? That's not guaranteed at all.

Another thing to have in mind: Getafe hosts FC Twente this Thursday for the UEFA cup.

I really believe in a 6th position. I mean we got guardado which will make a lot of danger in the wings. we already got Riki which is an outstanding forward when he has an average season and players like guardado behind him. Auate is a real good keeper so goes with our defensive line Colo Lopo and fairly our side defenders too. the only problem would be in midfield where we really need player like Sergio to perform. the traffic over the ball both controlling it and generate occasions to score. Sergio JR DeGuzman and Verdu I think depor is much depended on their game during this season!

I would like to see Guzman and Verdu pair up in midfield...

-----------Aouate------------
Baragan---Lopo---Colo---Pablo
Lafita--Guzman-Verdu--Guardado
------------Riki---------------
----------Bodipo--------------

The starting of season Lotina has say he want to make Sergio, M.Pablo, Bodipo, good again.. So i think he will start with Sergio again even he played bad.. And is time to give a chance Cristian or P Alvarez on right wing..Lafita did nothing..We have a team to be in a 6th position but it depends on Lotina..
against Getafe draw will be ok for me..
