Default Liga | 18.05.08 | Deportivo - Villarreal | 21h00 (pre-match)

The last game of the season, we only need a draw to secure the Intertoto, we don't have any suspension for this game.

The visits of Villarreal:
1998-1999 ---> DEPOR 2 -- VILLARREAL 1
2000-2001 ---> DEPOR 4 -- VILLARREAL 2
2001-2002 ---> DEPOR 0 -- VILLARREAL 0
2002-2003 ---> DEPOR 2 -- VILLARREAL 1
2003-2004 ---> DEPOR 0 -- VILLARREAL 1
2004-2005 ---> DEPOR 1 -- VILLARREAL 1
2005-2006 ---> DEPOR 0 -- VILLARREAL 2
2006-2007 ---> DEPOR 2 -- VILLARREAL 0

We don't know yet the hour of the match

Villarreal doesn't have anything to fight for, but this won't be an easy encounter. Their attacking power is very strong and their midfielders are solid too. We'll definetely need to fight hard to get something out of this game.

All depends on the fair play draw on tuesday. If Spain gets the extra Uefa-ticket, I'd let our players completely hold back. That way we could be losing 0-3 or something, but I don't really care as we'll be going to Uefa Cup then anyway. Besides, the odds of Bilbao winning at Sevilla are not really big imo.

If Spain doesn't get the extra Uefa-ticket, then I'd play defensively, hoping on a counter.

Villareal Secured their spot with 10 points away from Barcelona .. Bilbao is playing Sevilla in Sevilla .. I think we can secure the 8th position in the table .. we only need a draw. Depor need to forget about the defensive tactics for this game ...

forget the 5-2-2-1

playe with the old tactic

4-2-2-1-1

introduce lafita as a free player ( play making with freedom to move )

the 5 defender tactic worked for a few matches when it was a surprise, but i really think we need to go back to a 4 defender back line as soon as possible

Don't assume that Villarreal will throw away this match, not at all! They want to make their record of best-ever Primera season even better.

And Sevilla, who play for nothing, aren't going to be 100% against Caparros' Bilbao.

I see Deportivo either winning or drawing, and I don't believe in Bilbao winning in Sevilla, but it's a likely scenario that we lose the ticket.

The game will be played on Sunday 21.00. Curiously, the only other game that is being played at the same hour is the only game in La Liga that actually matters to us: Sevilla-Athletic.

Sábado 17 de mayo de 2008
20:00 Espanyol-Almería
22:00 Murcia-Barcelona

Domingo 18 de mayo de 2008
18:00 Getafe-Betis
18:00 Recreativo-Valladolid
18:00 Valencia-Atlético de Madrid
18:00 Mallorca-Zaragoza
18:00 Racing-Osasuna
20:00 Real Madrid-Levante
21:00 Deportivo-Villarreal
21:00 Sevilla-Athletic

It pissed me off last night, that the Belgian commentator didn't knew that Depor is still fighting for Intertoto. He thought the season was all over for Depor, after the loss. I hope they know better by now, cause if they know Depor is still fighting for something, then I'm pretty sure they'll broadcast this game. After all, Depor and Villarreal are the best teams of the second round.
