Default LIGA | 31.08.08 21h00 | Deportivo - Real Madrid | Pre-Match

It's high time to open this!
First game in la liga 2008-2009 and as we all know, this is sth much more than a simple game. This is the continuity of a living legend, one of those "David and Goliath" fairy tales which rarely happen in such extension. This is one of the longest negative traditions concerning a football giant club, as is Real Madrid.

Deportivo-Real Madrid 2008-2009 edition. The curse continues

History:

1991-1992 ---> DEPOR 0 -- REAL MADRID 3
1992-1993 ---> DEPOR 3 -- REAL MADRID 2
1993-1994 ---> DEPOR 4 -- REAL MADRID 0
1994-1995 ---> DEPOR 0 -- REAL MADRID 0
1995-1996 ---> DEPOR 3 -- REAL MADRID 0
1996-1997 ---> DEPOR 1 -- REAL MADRID 1
1997-1998 ---> DEPOR 2 -- REAL MADRID 2
1998-1999 ---> DEPOR 4 -- REAL MADRID 0
1999-2000 ---> DEPOR 5 -- REAL MADRID 2
2000-2001 ---> DEPOR 2 -- REAL MADRID 2
2001-2002 ---> DEPOR 3 -- REAL MADRID 0
2002-2003 ---> DEPOR 0 -- REAL MADRID 0
2003-2004 ---> DEPOR 2 -- REAL MADRID 0
2004-2005 ---> DEPOR 2 -- REAL MADRID 0
2005-2006 ---> DEPOR 3 -- REAL MADRID 1
2006-2007 ---> DEPOR 2 -- REAL MADRID 0
2007-2008 ---> DEPOR 1 -- REAL MADRID 0

Looking at those stats, Madrid only took 1 lousy point from Riazor from the last 7 confrontation and scored just 1 goal. If I remember well it was a useless last-minute goal of Raul.

I say Madrid should just skip the match and prepare for their next game

I have Big Doubts for this game

Yes Real madrid made only one signing while we on the other hand Made lots

!!!

sometimes its positive to continue with the same players ( more understanding will occur )

It is so funny that everytime the commentators and so on expect a Real Madrid win, and it never happens... why can't they not just accept that it is impossible to win for them... Riazor is a "magic" stadium and Real Madrid is "cursed" here... HAHA

Why do you always say we're gonna lose? I'm a 100% sure that if we made one signing and Madrid made a lot, you would be saying the exact opposite.

We've gone into this fixture in previous seasons with poor form and little belief and still pumped them up the arse and we'll do it again. I remember in 06/07 when we were getting hammered week after week we came up against them and defeated them with ease. They've arrived with Zamorano, Zidane, Ronaldo, Raul , Figo, Laudrup, Seedorf etc. and gone home with their tails firmly placed between thier legs and the same thing will happen in a few weeks time.

I wish this game came later; we still dont even have our squad while they will start where they left off. It's gonna be harder than ever, perhaps.

I agree that its the start of league, and that is different, but the fact is that we have beaten them the last several times, and NO MATTER at which round, and if we had a good or a bad run before, we ALWAYS managed to beat them by playing them all the way home to Madrid again, with a lesson of how you play football. We have done it in situations where even the most optimistic people thought it was impossible. Not just once, but many times! Why can't we do it again?

We also played Madrid at the start of the 96/97 season and should have won that one (1-1).
