Default LALIGA | Deportivo vs. Mallorca | 21.09.08 | 17:00 | pre-match

I guess our match against Villarreal isn't worth talking a lot so let's focus on our next Liga game - against Mallorca at Riazor. Our only target for this one is a win as draw won't give us what we want (high position in the table ).

The interesting thing that I noticed about our matches against Mallorca at Riazor - in their last 4 visits we always earned a penalty!
Here we go:
Liga 2005/06 Depor 2:2 Mallorca (Tristan penalty)
Liga 2006/07 Depor 1:0 Mallorca (Estoyanoff penalty)
Copa 2006/07 Depor 1:1 Mallorca (Sergio penalty)
Liga 2007/08 Depor 1:1 Mallorca (Guardado penalty)

I hope ref knows what to do Too bad, we won't have our olympic diver Riki for this game

Well both Mista, Verdú, Guardado and Alvarez are definitely capable of doing the job.

But I have hopes about this game. Would like to see how it goes in Norway and see the starting lineup, before really judging, but Mallorca are not strong at all. Didn't see them today, but did see them against Valencia, and although Mestalla is a tough place to play, they weren't impressive at all. I kinda fear Trejo, though. Seems very talented.

But let's wait and see. In our strongest lineup we are without doubt able to beat them.

I also recall Caparros attempting to use the trivote in midfield against a certain Villarreal (I think?) a few seasons back and we also lost the match. We didn't have amy creativity back then and we didn't have any this time around.

Agreed. Lets tuck the trivote option away.

This is a game we should win. I respect Mallorca but they don't scare me, especially without players like Guiza, Ibagaza and that chap that went to England (Jonas I think his name is).

We must defend Riazor and get the 3 points.

i hope Lotina won't do what i am thinking of :

If Guarado and lafita play against brann that means a 90% percense of cristian on the left wing and a 100% valeron on the right wing
and mista too

which will make our attacking form slow taking in mind also the contribution of verdu !!

Mallorca has always been a tricky game for us.
I really hope Lotina goes back to basics again.
For me I would like the teams below

IF 5-4-1
Aranzubia
Laure.....Ze Castro....Lopo....Collotto....Filipe
P.Alvarez.....De Guzman......Sergio.......Guardado
.......................Bravo...................... ........

IF 4-4-2
Aranzubia
Laure.........Lopo.........Collotto.........Filipe
P.Alvarez.....De Guzman......Sergio.......Guardado
.......................Valeron.................... .........
.......................Bravo...................... ........

from now this list is discarded in its 60%

don't expect to see this list repeating in marollca;s game cause it will be used in brann;s game

I never have nor will I ever like rotations.
IF you are tired on injured then rest, but not just for the sake of it and not at the beginning of the season when everyone is fresh.
Play your best side possible.

I'm not a big fan of it, but if the rotations start giving results, I think its best. We can't judge rotations based on one game (Villarreal), we need to give this time. In the long run, rotations will help. Especially if we go deep in Uefa and Copa...plus it prevents injuries. I think it's just a matter of players adjusting to them.

hopefully the roatations will bring our whole squad into good form gradually then we always have a strong lineup although there will always be players that make the difference

after the game in norway,we have to face a situation...We aren't Liverpool or manchester or inter to play the rotation system. We haven't the necessary depth to do it.We took mista, but last night a discarded player(bodipo)was our striker. If you play rotation, the point is,to have men on the bench as good as the starters.and we haven't.We even haven't a second LB,and Guardado was forced to replace Filipe!!
I see that depor plays better, when its most skilful players are in the pitch. We can't go like this for all season, and if the price is to be out of europe,i accept it..

This would be ideal. We can't expect the rotations to work on the first couple of games. Eventually the players will become accostumed and the good results will come.
