I just found that very possible we will go down if we draw with valencia because we are down in the head-to- head game with all the teams from position 14 to 18

we need only a win from Valencia, nothing less will save us

45 Levante

44 Osasuna
44 Sociedad
44 Mallorca
43 Getafe
43 Deportivo
-----------------
42 Zaragoza

Alhough Levante will have a worse head to head if they and Zaragoza finish on 45 pts, they will finish above one of Sociedad and Getafe, so they are safe too.

Last Weeks Fixtures

Osasuna v Villarreal

Real Sociedad v Getafe

Levante v Zaragoza

Deportivo v Valencia

Mallorca v A.Madrid

Osasuna can only go down if they lose and Socieded v Getafe is a draw AND Zaragoza and Depor both win
Sociedad need a draw to survive but can still survive if they lose if Zaragoza don't win OR Depor don't win OR Mallorca lose.

Mallorca need a draw OR for Getafe to lose OR Deportivo to lose OR Zaragoza not to win

Getafe need to win but can survive with a draw IF Mallorca lose OR Depor don't win or Zaragoza don't win. They can also survive if they lose AND Depor lose OR Zaragoza lose.

Deportivo need to win but can survive with a draw IF Mallorca lose OR Getafe lose OR Zaragoza don't win. Depor can also survive if they lose and Zaragoza lose.

Zaragoza need a win. They can also survive if they draw and Getafe lose OR Deportivo lose.

Rik, why irrelevant? If we draw and Sociedad loses we will both have 44 points.

EDIT: Checked. We have worse head-to-head with Socieded (2:4) so it doesn't matter.

Not true. We have a better head to head with Mallorca. A win is the only way to guarantee safety but all our options are above.

Ah I see what you mean. They win the head to head 4-2 I think so they can't go down (if they're level with us)

aren't we still 1 point above zaragoza? If so, all we need is them not to win and/or us not to loose. And if we win then it doesn't matter what they do, we would already be saved.

But yeah, I just have that need right now to punch xisco on the face. That could have been the most important goal of his career (at Depor at least ). What a waste!

well 0-0 I suppose is a good result, even if we actually didn't play any football and we could have actually won the game at the end!!!
It's in our hands still.
It's going to be a loooong game next weekend!!

Overall tonight I think we did a good job. Our team are under the most severe pressure and anyone who blames Xisco for that miss should also understand that Valdes made a great save too when he came off his line so quickly. Xisco didn't WANT to miss it and it got a little stuck under his feet. Let's get behind the team one more time with nothing but POSITIVE vibes please.

I actually made a little table of what could happen if we draw. There are 8 possibilities. I didn't write the points next to them, but they don't matter much anyway.

Getafe
Deportivo

Getafe
Deportivo
Mallorca

Getafe
Osasuna
Deportivo

Getafe
Mallorca
Deportivo
Osasuna

Sociedad
Deportivo

Deportivo
Sociedad
Mallorca

Sociedad
Osasuna
Deportivo

Sociedad
Deportivo
Mallorca
Osasuna

This basically means that Osasuna doesn't matter to us anymore. If we draw and they lose, we'll get relegated anyway. Mallorca on the other hand, is a different matter. As soon as they lose and we get a point, we'll stay in Primera. If Osasuna and Mallorca both lose, we stay up too. This is of course irrelevant if Zaragoza were to lose or draw, or if Sociedad beats Getafe. Then a point will keep us in Primera no matter what.

So, as a recap:
If we beat Valencia, we're saved no matter what.
If we draw against Valencia, we're saved if Zaragoza doesn't win in Levante and/or if Getafe loses in Sociedad. If Zaragoza does win, and if Getafe does win or draw in Sociedad, then we'd still be saved if Mallorca loses at home to Atletico.
If we lose against Valencia, we'd only be saved if Levante beats Zaragoza as well.

These 4 games are the only ones that matter to us now:
Mallorca - Atletico
Deportivo - Valencia
Levante - Zaragoza
Sociedad - Getafe

Despite everything I believe we should be optimistic. Most of us didn't give us a chance for getting sth at Camp Nou, but we are coming back home with one point in the bag. No matter how "weak" team Guardiola put on the field it's still Barca and still Camp Nou - don't you ever forget about it.

Second thing is that we have reached the "magical" mark of 43 points - no one ever in history have been relegated with such an amount of points and even though it's very likely to be changed this season - let's be positive

Finally the third thing is we have our fate in our hands (or legs ). We are playing the final matchday at home while our main rivals are playing away. It will be most possibly full house at Riazor and so much hated Valencia with nothing to play for - we will do it

Heads up!

I just worked out that it's possible that 4 clubs could end up on 44 pts if:

Sociedad draw with Getafe
Osasuna lose to Villarreal
Mallorca lose to A.Madrid
Depor draw with Valencia

In that scenario there is a head 2 head between all 4 teams like a mini league and we would stay up, with Osasuna going down. (if Zaragoza won too)
