Great game, but our lack of aim made us suffer again.

Unfortunately most of our rivals also picked up wins.

A result that looks alot closer than it actually was. We played some great stuff in the 1st half and went ahead when Gama's cross/shot was deflected into his own net by Lomban after just 5 minutes.

Guardado then scored from just inside the area after first faking shot before finding the bottom corner. We dominated the 1st half completely and were fully deserving of the 2 goal lead we had established but with the last kick of the half, we conceded a goal after a great freekick from Campano.

Xerez started fairly well in the 2nd half but we soon got back on top and in the 59th minute they went down to 10 men when Capdevila picked up a 2nd yellow card for diving. Unfortunately, the red card seemed to affect us a bit and I thought that Xerez had their best spell of the game just after the expulsion but we soon got back on top again. We did miss some fairly easy chances but I think we hit the woodwork 3 times and Doblas was Man of the Match with some great saves for them.

EDIT: I knew that would happen lol. Wait over 30 mins for someone to open up a thread and then have to do it yourself, only to find someone finally bothered while you were typing

Thanks Gregster though

Well, I usually leave to get something to drink after the end of a game, so I didn't saw you asked it until I came back. And then I also waited for several minutes, thinking the topic would arrive any second

I get your frustration

By the way, including Alcoyano's goal in the Copa, isn't this the fourth time a team has scored an excellent free kick against us?

We were close to end 1st, but Elche won, also Hércules won.

yeah, Elche's and Hercule's turn overs certanly left a bittersweet taste in my mouth. But Depor did what it had to, and that's what matters. I guess this will be a close close league till the end, and we do seem to be up for it.

overall very good game for us, we deserved a far bigger and convincing win....we took the 3 points but our rivals did it too....now the race for the promoton is tough and unpredictable so we must improve our away behaviour too

The score should have been better but 3 points is all what count. We were close to end this matchday as the leader, but if we continue playing like this I believe we will get that deserved spot by the end of the month. Now it's time to trash Huesca, Villarreal B and Cartagena to assure our spot in top 2. Vamos!

Once again we ended suffering in a match that we deserved to win easily. We played an impressive 1st half, with the complete domain of the game and creating lot of clear chances. We could be winning at half time 3-0 or 4-0, but in the last minutes Xerez got a goal with only one chance, a very well executed free kick.

In the 2nd half we lowered the level, but still missing several chances... Xerez played a more direct football and put some pressure, but fortunately not clear chances, so we finally achieved the needed 3 points, that is so important.

In the end the score doesn't really matter in Spanish leagues, as goal average doesn't count anyway. I'd be worried if we weren't superior to Xerez, but we could've easily scored 5. It's just a little annoying that both Elche and Hercules were able to come back from behind. Elche's and Hercules' schedule isn't the most difficult, so I don't see them dropping much points in January either.

It's very funny to see how many great free kicks opponents score against us. Sure, Aranzubia probably could've done a bit better, but it was still very well taken.

That dive was hysterical First he attempts to makes a shot, misses the ball, and then he decides to make a ridiculous dive

In the last 5 Liga matches we got 13 points of 15 (20 of 27 in the last 9). Let's keep this way.

3 wins in a row... Great offensive game.. Gama needs to score a goal to gain some confidence.

anyway i'm optimistic now

Goalkeeper Toni Doblas was impressed with the environment that he found at the Riazor, as he wrote on his Twitter account, “We are sad for the defeat, but we gave hard battle to a rival of Primera División with a group of fans from Primera; God what a pleasure to play at the Riazor.”

We still maintain our promotion spot, but tis very, very tight at the top. I have a feeling its going to be a long, hard fought 2012.

I am very pleased with the resaults lately, let's keep it up. (And let's get a clean sheet so our defense gets a confident boost.)

IMO Guardado, Juan Dominguez and Ze castro all put in very good performances.

Also a special mention to Ayoze, this was his best performance so far this season.

Once again we have missed chances. Riki and Lassad were not effective, Xisco is not yet fit to play, Bodipo at the ACN.

Will Lendoiro bring in a striker this month .?
