I see you are amused with this thread

Arizmendi ruled out of the game for an injury

the coach tested this draw:

Lux
Laure - Insua - Alex - MP
Wilk
Rudy - Juan Carlos - Juan Dominguez - Bicho
Borja

Can't believe Juan Carlos is in that line-up again. I understand Arizmendi and Culio are out, but Juan Carlos just isn't good enough. He gave two good passes, but aside from that, nothing.

Not very optimistic for this game.

About Juan Carlos, Greg, I agree he wasn't brilliant so far. But in his defense, it must be said that the few matches he played as a starter in Liga were on the wing, out of his position. I'd really like to see him playing in his natural place, AM. IMO, what he needs is minutes and confidence to become "good enough".

And I also hope that Bicho will be a starter too.

I'm looking for Juan Carlos to get minutes in his natural position too. But the problem is that I'd also like to see if Rudy would be better there than on the wing. I'm not sure there's room for both of them in the team at the same time.

I would like to see Marchena return to the linup aswell and also Rudy in playmaker/second striker role.
My line-up would be:

------------Lux------------
Laure--Marchena-insua--MP
--------Alex ---JD----------
Nunez-----Rudy-------Bicho
----------Baston-----------

I think it is a game that Bicho could start, it's not the toughest of opponents + we play away from home, so there is not so much pressure. Also having Nunez,JD,Alex,Lux,MP,Laure and especially Marchena playing alongside you to incoruage and help you would be priceless.

4-2-3-1 system would much better suit JD, Nunez and Alex as a midfielder. I would bench Wilk. He has played well, but I bealive that Alex would deserve a spot in the midfield as we have enough alternatives for CB - firstly Marchena, then Kaka and Uxio as well. He is doing OK at the CB, but if a team will dominate us, he will probably fail and also his guidences out of the danger zone into a counter is not so good. Also Wilk can be an alternative if Alex isn't doing well or if we need to close down the game - there is no depth at the moment - playing Teles alongside JD simply isn't a pivot duo that works in the defensive end.

If Nunez isn't fit for 100% (knowing that Ariz is injured and Culio suspended) Juan Carlos should take his place, but in this scenario I support the 4-1-4-1 system with JD and JuanCarlos as playmakers + Bicho and Rudy as wingers. Also in this case Alex vs.Wilk isn't so defined as Wilk played well i the lonely pivot and Alex didn't play that at all.

But I hope that Nunez is fit enough and FV will use him from the start as he brings alot to our offensive effort, he brings what we lack, brake on the wings + crosses + problems for opposition defense to focus only on one area of attack.

Knowing FV he will probably play what Carlos wrote as the tested lineup - maybe Nunez could change Bicho if he is fit enough andthat is about it.

I totally agree with you about Juan Carlos, not that he's not good enough individually, but he tends to disappear and doesn't take charge of the build up!

Now again why isn't Marchena a starter?!!!

I'm really annoyed now!

Jaen case, maybe? Plus he has never been a choice of FV... He asked forwards and received Marchena on Sept 2nd.

It's not that easy with Marchena, he didn't make the preseason and has been training since he arrived to get the level, although suffered an injury, which stopped his evolution. Now, he surely begins to be fit to play, but the question is: instead of who? I mean, our defense is playing great, Insua and Alex don't deserve to be benched, neither Wilk, who is also at great level and even was voted for the fans as the best player last match, both in canaldeportivo and riazor.org. Probably Marchena will be a starter soon, but right now, I'm not very sure he's in better shape than Insua, Alex and Wilk.

let's hope you're right, blue nation, I will be very pissed at FV if Marchena is fit to play and he decides not to start with him!

Even if the defense is doing well, Marchena is a team leader, he's needed for many attributions on the field.

And if you say Wilk is doing well, well Juando is not doing well, so maybe Alex can replace him in the future!

I haven't liked Juan Carlos so far either, but I don't see anything wrong with his inclusion on the starting line up. Not only do we have a really thin squad, but its still so early in the season and its very possible that he will find a better form somewhere in the near future, and the only way to encourage such thing is by giving him more game time. I truly believe most of our players aren't playing to their true potential just yet.
