The New Year’s resolution for Depor Ladies is to leave the relegation zone, and also to endure as the next six games are going to be played in January. Coach Manu Sánchez is optimistic about the chances of his team.

Depor Ladies have started to react, the seven points added on the season came within their last four games, but the team remains as the bottom club despite they are only three points under salvation and with ones less game played.

And the challenge is not only to add the needed points to leave the pit, but also to endure the race. The next six games are going to be played in January, the first three in a frame of seven days (UDG Tenerife, Real Betis and Rayo Vallecano).

Coach Manu Sánchez talked during the weekend about the issue, "We have the uncertainty of whether we are going to be able to be at the same level as before the Christmas break. The game against Barcelona game cannot be counted even though I self-criticize that game, also to look for all the positive elements that we had,”

"We are also pending to know the physical response of the team. Of those six games to come, we play three in seven days. We accumulate all of them and we have to look for the best performance of the team, both sporting and physically, which is the most worrying thing after the break. Trying to be positive, to work with your head. It isn’t about bingeing on work and arriving in the best conditions at these games that we have."

The first game in 2021 will be the visit to UDG Tenerife (Tuesday), Manu Sánchez was talking of the rival, "It’s a very brave team. It took very well the ideas of [former coach] Francis Díaz. The policy of recent years has changed in terms of style of play and last year it was already seen. They finished the season very well. This year they have reinforced all these ideas with some interesting reinforcements in all the lines. Maybe with not as many means as other clubs are playing a great season. We will go there to try to bring us something positive. They are at that moment of the wave in which everything is favorable. They have taken advantage of it to achieve great results, although the last ones have not been so satisfactory for them. It’s a very dangerous team, very powerful and for something they are up there."

But the coach remains positive and want to see Depor Ladies extending the attitude shown against Madrid CFF, "It’s a great example that has to serve us to see what we can develop outside Abegondo, and against rivals with enormous potential such as Madrid CFF, with a very large squad. And knowing how to suffer. I think we knew how to suffer everything we had to suffer. before the attacks of them. And that the team sees that it’s capable of receiving the attacks of the rival, knowing how to solve them with solvency. And then try to do some damage, which we did and well."
