BEFORE THE GAME
This was only the second game played by Depor Ladies in 2021. The pandemic had forced three delays and therefore this was their first game in 18 days. Coach Manu Sánchez was missing winger Carolina Arbeláez and centre-back Ainoa Campo for injury reasons.

THE MATCH
The crisis continues for Depor Ladies, the team has now lost 11 of 14 games. The gals had a promising first half in which they deserved more than a narrow disadvantage, but the second was so poor that Valencia CF ended deserving a bigger win.

The first chance in the game was a corner-kick for Depor Ladies in which Gaby headed the ball out (3’). Valencia CF were trying to hold on the ball, while the Galicians were more interested in releasing quick attacks.

The strong wind was affecting the game as the constant crosses from the locals were ending out of the field. It also affected Depor Ladies, as example the long pass of Sullastres searching for Peke that ended out when she was alone in attack (8’).

And suddenly Valencia CF found the first goal in the game. It was an error in the output of the ball, Asun Martínez stole the ball and released a cross that Ellen Jansen headed in at the near post. Depor Ladies tried to react with a lateral free-kick in which Iris fired a low shot blocked by local keeper Enith Salón (16’).

Three minutes later Lady Andrade was close to score with a new low shot that was deflected by Enith. Depor Ladies were finding cracks at the local defence, mainly though the speed of Lady Andrade and Athenea Del Castillo.

Depor’s best chance in the first half came at minute 33, it was a direct free-kick of Stephannie Blanco in which her strong shot hit the crossbar. The visiting side insisted within the final fifteen minutes, but there were no more opportunities for them. The best chance in this frame was for Valencian and Jansen, it was a counterattack in which her shot passed close to the near post (42’).

The final part started was totally different, Depor Ladies never competed and the locals started to add more goals. The half started with a new chance for Jansen and Sullastres made the save (46’).  The first chance for Depor was a shot of Gaby that missed the target (51’). One minute later a new error in the output of the ball ended with a shot of Sandra Hernández that was barely saved by Cris.

The wind was now in favor of Depor Ladies, but the team never felt comfortable with the situation, and Valencia CF found a new error in the output of the ball to extend the lead. Anna Torrodŕ drilled the pass and Candela Andújar didn’t miss from close range.

Depor Ladies were knocked down and the third goal was close to arrive in a new drilled pass by Anna Torrodŕ, this time Sullastres saved against Candela (64’). Manu Sánchez tried to refresh the attack and Michelle Romero replaced Lady Andrade.

But Depor Ladies never found the same level of the first half and ended conceding a third goal, it was scored by substitute Flor Bonsegundo with a strong and crossed shot from the edge of the area. Kika entered for Bedoya as Manu Sánchez was desperate to regain control at midfield
