LAFITA AND THE DARK SIDE OF FOOTBALL

15 Feb 2008
?ngel Lafita has lived an irregular season. He begun as an starter and later he was left out of the list of called players. Then, he returned to the starting eleven for the copa series with Espanyol and enjoyed of a period of four straight games as starter, but once again he lost his place and it seems that the arrival of Wilhelmsson would complicate his future, now Lafita describes this moment as the 'dark side' although he still hopeful about the future.

The present and the near future is complicated for ?ngel Lafita, the Aragonian winger has been out of the list of called players during the last month of competition, but it isn't a new thing for him, because he already lived that. The ex-Zaragoza started the campaign playing in the first six liga encounters, Lotina realised he wasn't fit to play and was left out of action during one month.

Later the winger returned and played a series of matches in la liga that included both legs in copa against Espanyol. Once again he was left out of action by Lotina after the 0-3 Vs. Atl?©tico Madrid. Lafita is currently living a dark period and as only played 174 minutes on the present year.

And Lafita talked with sportpaper AS about his current moment, a period he described as the dark side of football "This has been a  rare season for me. At the beginning I was a starter, but I wasn't fine and I understood why the coach threw me out of the starting team. This ended to be a good thing and I regained my form. Later I came back and I fulfilled my job pretty well. I played four consecutive games, but suddenly, I was on the bench and later I was left out of the lists. Now I am once again at the dark side of football, but I hope things might change soon."

Despite the problems, Lafita said that he already lived worse moments at Zaragoza "On this season, I am probably living the worse moments, but I already lived worse situations, it was during my first year at Zaragoza when I learned a lot of things. It's necessary to take the positive things from the bad experiences and for that reason, now I am stronger. I won't quit. In football all changes in just seven days. Why things won't be favourable to me in one of the weeks remaining in the calendar?" The winger also said that he isn't afraid of the competition after Wilhelmsson's arrival "It's necessary to dispute the spot with one more partner, but nothing more."

Finally and despite his absence during the last games, Lafita confessed that he would love to continue at Deportivo. It must be reminded that he's playing on loan and that Depor has the option to buy him at the end of the season (buyout option of €2 million) "I would love to see the team continuing with its bet on me. I hope I will be able to continue during more years on here. I won't have a problem with that."
