New disaster for Deportivo, two punctual errors and the lack of attitude in the first half cost the game. The team improved in the second half, but it was unlucky after meeting the post in three different plays.

Coach Rubén De La Barrera chose to play with a 4-4-2 formation. Mujaid Sadick returned to the centre of the defence, while Adri Castro was making his third appearance as a starter. Diego Villares and Rayco Rodríguez started on the bench.

Carlos Abad was the starting goalkeeper, Jorge Valín covered the right side in defence, the left flank was for Salva Ruiz. Borja Granero joined Mujaid at the central positions. Uche Agbo and Celso Borges were the centre midfielders, Keko Gontán attacked from the right wing, José Lara did it from the left, then Rai Nascimento and Adri Castro were the centre midfielders.

At Coruxo FC, coach Michel Alonso was playing with the 4-1-4-1 formation of recent weeks. José Rivera and Diego Silva were the centre forwards. Moha Chabboura was making his first appearance as a starter, he debuted in the previous game and scored a goal.

Another disappointing game for Deportivo. The team had the ball, but later it didn’t create opportunities and this time it was imprecise in defence and Coruxo FC, without doing too much, scored twice and could have even netted three goals.

The game started with a big chance for Coruxo CF, after just sixty seconds, Uche Agbo committed a big mistake in the output of the ball, it allowed Diego Silva to face Carlos Abad one-on-one, and only the bad definition of the striker and the reflexes of the keeper prevented the goal, later Mujaid cleared the danger.

Witt the passage of the minutes, Depor started to feel comfortable despite the pitch was in poor conditions. Los Blanquiazules were having the ball, but as always, they weren’t creating any danger.  Keko Gontán was pretty active, but he was unable to create a scoring opportunity.

Then a minute that was key. At minute 20, Lara made a solo-play on the left, he dribbled two rivals, entered the area and released a low shot that local goalie Alberto Domínguez saved. In the next play, the locals earned a corner-kick, and the first goal came there. The cross of Anton de Vicente was poorly defended by Abad, Keko couldn’t clear the danger and Moha Chabboura just had to push the ball in from inside the box.

The goal didn’t change the script, because Depor continued to have the ball, but the difference was that Depor was desperate, always hurrying the plays and unable to create any opportunity. And to make things worse, Coruxo FC found a second goal.

It was a penalty, Silva entered the area by the left corner and collied with Keko Gontán, the referee whistled the penalty and the same Diego Silva converted from the spot. The second goal killed the already poor spirit of Deportivo. The players were just standing on the pitch, and don’t even seized the set-pieces, like the free-kick of Salva Ruiz that he sent well over the crossbar (44’)

Deportivo improved in the second half, but it wasn’t enough to change the outcome. The team feel down for the last twenty minutes, and strangely it was when it had the best opportunities, and it’s that Los Blanquiazules hit the posts in three different opportunities.

The first half was so infamous that De La Barrera made four substitutions at half-time. Miku and Héctor Hernández, Villares and Rayco entered the pitch, the last two were debuting after been promoted in midweek. Salva Ruiz, Adri Castro, Borges and Lara were the men replaced.

At least there was more attitude at the start of the second part, within the first two minutes Depor had already earned a lateral free-kick and two corner-kicks. But that electricity was soon gone. The visiting team was still having the ball, but later the chances weren’t arriving.

Villares was penetrating by the right wing, but later his crosses were inaccurate. The first clear opportunity for Depor in the half was a drilling shot of Rai that passed close to the far post (61’). Two minutes later the Brazilian attacker tried the same play, but now on the right side of the area and this time Alberto blocked the ball.

The last substitution for Depor was the entry of Borja Galán for Keko Gontán. At this height in the game, Depor was once again a clueless team. It had the ball, but later it was unable to break the rival’s defence, mainly for not having a clear plan.

Meanwhile, Coruxo FC were feeling comfortable in defence, and even had a couple of approximations through the counterattack, and only an offside prevented the third goal when Moha Chabboura collected the ball when he was alone at the left corner of the area (79’).

And when Depor were already defeated, los Blanquiazules had three opportunities that ended with the ball meeting the woodwork. And Borja Galán was involved in the three plays. In the first, he released a corner-kick from the left that Borja Granero headed on target, and the ball hit the near post (87’).

The other two actions came in the stoppage time. First a short cross from Borja Galán was headed by Miku, the ball hit the crossbar and bounced at the goal line (90+1’). Two minutes later Borja Galán fired a low shot from inside the area, the ball hit the far post, passed close to the back of Alberto and later was cleared by a defender.

The drama of Deportivo continued after a new pale game of the team. Los Blanquiazules had the ball possession, but it continues to miss the solutions in attack at the moment of creating opportunities. Two defensive errors in the first half cost the goals, and now even the luck was against the team after meeting the posts in three different plays within the last fifteen minutes.

Depor are now sinking at the standings, the team is now closer to the relegation zone than to the first three places. The team remains to be winless in 2021. The next game is the visit of CD Guijuelo to the Riazor (Sunday, 17h00 CET).
