Disaster for Depor Ladies, after a poor first half, the team was reacting and a clear penalty changed the course of the game. The team is back at the bottom of the standings and the permanence is more difficult.

This was supposed to be the first of three free weekends in Liga Iberdrola, but this frame is used to recover the postponed games due to the pandemic. It was an important game for Depor Ladies, not only because Real Betis is a direct rival for the salvation, but also because a victory would put the team at the edge of salvation.

Coach Manu Sánchez was still missing winger Carolina Arbeláez for injury reasons. Iris Arnaiz continued to perform at the centre of the defence.  Once again, the coach had to pick Eva Dios and María Figueroa from the B squad in order to cover the available spots.

It was a final for Depor Ladies, but the gals never played as it was a final. Asleep in the first half, it found a two-goal disadvantage at half-time. It tried to react in the second part, but a penalty and an expulsion ended the game and probably the salvation hopes.

The game couldn’t start in a worse way for Depor Ladies, after only two minutes an error in the output of the ball by Sullastres allowed Rosa Márquez to assist Rosa Otermín, who didn’t miss in the one-on-one action against the keeper.

The Galicians had problems to react, they found a team that well positioned on the field and later had problems to defend the internal passes from Real Betis. So, it wasn’t strange when the second goal arrived. It was a corner-kick of Ángela, Oriane Altuve connected the ball at the near post and Ana González just had to push the ball in.

If Depor Ladies were confused after the first goal, now they were desperate. They claimed control of the actions, but they were also unable to create any dangerous play. The first arrival of the locals came until minute 34, it was a lateral free-kick of Alba Merino that Athenea Del Castillo headed and it was an easy catch for visiting goalie Méline Gerard.

To make things worse, Lady Andrade picked a knee injury and had to be replaced by Eva Dios. Altuve could have scored the third goal before the break, but Iris cleared the danger when she was about to face Sullastes in a new one-on-one action (41’).

Depor Ladies were controlling the game in the second part, and this time they were ending the plays and were fortunate to find the first goal in their first shot on target. Medina failed the output of the ball and Athenea released a low cross from the left that Peke pushed in.

It seemed the reaction was coming, but then things drastically changed at minute 54. A counterattack for Real Betis was poorly defended by Sullatres, and Villegas deflected with the arm the attempt of Altuve when she was firing from close range, and the penalty was called, then Ana Sosa restored the two-goal advantage firing from the spot.

The goal killed any possible reaction from the locals, Real Betis felt pretty comfortable and the last two substitutions were the entries of Helena Torres and Kika for Eva Dios and Alba Merino. Betis were closer to score the fourth goal after substitute Mari Paz fired a shot that passed close to the post (80’).
