Painful defeat for Fabril; the lads had the three points inside the pocket after a solid first half, but two late goals cost a new defeat. The team has only added one point within the last five games.

Fabril were in a hurry after only adding one of the previous twelve points in dispute, and once again coach Juan Carlos Valerón decided to make multiple changes. Álex Boedo and Javi Sánchez returned to the starting formation. Four Juvenile players were on the roster, including playmaker Jairo Noriega, who was picked for the first time.

Alberto Sánchez was the starting keeper, Álvaro Pérez ‘Trilli’ covered the right side in defence, the left flank was for Guille Bueno, Juan Rodríguez and Álvaro Yuste played at the centre of the defence. Álex Barba and Javi Sanmartín played at midfield, Javi Sánchez attacked from the right wing, Álex Boedo did it from the left, then Yeremay Hernández ‘Peke’ joined Adri Castro in attack.

Fabril have only added one point within the last five games, and a lot of this has to do with the promotion of Rayco and Villares. Valerón has been forced to rely in Juvenile players and the team has noticed the decline.

But not in this game. Bergantiños CF arrived as the leader in the subgroup with only one defeat, they have a more experienced team, which included five ex-Fabril players as starters in this match (Vela, Rama, Iago López, Remeseiro and Cano), and they looked inferior to Fabril, mainly in the first half. The lads had a more vertical game and gave a lot of problems to a rival that only reacted within the final fifteen minutes.

The first chance to score was a shot of ex-Fabril Jorge Cano that was blocked by Alberto (5’). Fabril replied two minutes later with a shot of Yeremay that was deflected by visiting goalie Brais Pereiro, Javi Sánchez collected the loose ball and sent it over the crossbar as he was under the pressure of a defender.

The game was attractive as both sides were trying to attack, the second arrival for Bergantiños CF was a volley of ex-Fabril Diego Vela that went out (12’). The attractive game continued and Javi Sánchez could have scored, but his strong shot was deflected by Brais (14’).

Bergantiños started to have problems to step into the rival’s side of the pitch, and it was then when Fabril found the first goal in the meeting, Guille Bueno made a great play on the left, his shot was deflected by Brais and Álex Boedo was there to collect the loose ball and push it in.

Bergantiños CF were affected by the goal, they didn’t have a reaction and Fabril were still attacking. The locals could have scored the second goal before the break, but the free-kick of Javi Sánchez was cleared by the defence (43’).

Fabril continued to be the best team in the second part, Bergantiños CF were missing too many passes in defence and the locals were feeling comfortable. But then an error was close to cost the equalizer, a bad pass by Trilli to Alberto left Miguel Ángel Duque alone against the keeper, but his attempt hit the post and went out (58’).

The locals replied in a direct free-kick action, Adri Castro collected the ball at the edge of the area, his shot was going in, but it hit a defender and went deflected (61’). Four minutes later Adri Castro appeared again in a counterattack, but he failed in the last pass. The striker appeared for the third time in ten minutes with a shot that passed close to the near post (68’).

Fabril forgave too much and Bergantiños CF changed the tide within the final stretch of the game. Famoussa Kanouté replaced Sanmartín as Valerón was trying to protect the result, but it only found the equalizer.

Cano released a cross from the left and Martin Lamelas headed the ball into the far post. The locals saw how the victory was escaping and Valerón made a triple change. Isra, Pescador and Jairo Noriega entered the field.

But what Fabril found was a new goal of Bergantiños. Álex Barba lost the ball at midfield, Vela lead the counterattack and released a cross that Marcos Remeseiro found at the edge of the area to score through a strong shot.

Fabril were in shock, they had the victory inside the pocket, and in ten minutes they were suddenly trailing. To make things worse Barba was sent off in the added time after been booked twice.
