The second round starts with the visit of Marino de Luanco. The dream of promotion is gone, now the team must certify the continuity at the third tier. Erik Osede is the only player that remains out injured.

New week of frustration at Deportivo. Despite the victory over Zamora CF, the Coruñes team won’t dispute the promotion phase to Segunda A, instead it can only fight for the permanence at the third tier, and the six-game round in the intermediate league starts this Sunday with the visit of Marino de Luanco to the Riazor (19h00 CET).

Coach Rubén De La Barrera will have a fresher team as it recovers Celso Borges and Héctor Hernández. Borges joined the trainings last week, but it was until Wednesday when he received the medical okay from doctors.

The Central American midfielder is now the main candidate to replace Uche Agbo. The Nigerian player picked the fifth yellow card of the season in the game against Zamora CF and is now suspended for this match.

Meanwhile, Héctor Hernández missed the last game of the first round after suffering a muscle injury on his left thigh during the game with Celta B (March 14). He joined the training on Thursday and, despite it isn’t clear if he could start, the important thing is that he will be available. Therefore, the only player that will remain sidelined is Erik Osede, who is already working at the gym after been operated from his Achilles injury.

At Marino Luanco, the picture is more different. The fact of been disputing the intermediate round is considered to be a success. After all, the team had only added one victory when José Manuel Menéndez ‘Manel’ arrived at the bench back in January.

The ex-Depor player commanded a team that won five times in 2021, though they have an important disadvantage as they are the team in the group having lesser points. They have a five-point gap with the second place and the distance is seven points with Deportivo.

One of the keys for Manel has been the absence of injury cases affecting his team. Actually, the only player injured is midfielder Guille Pinín, who suffered a serious knee injury during the pre-season that forced him to miss the whole first round.
