Fabricio Coloccini is near to become the first Depor's field player that reaches the perfect mark of 3,420 minutes in one single liga season. The Argentinean will achieve this record if he's able to complete last season's match against Villarreal. And there's more, 'Colo' even have the chance to play the Olympic Games in Beijing with Argentina.

History could be written on Sunday, central defender Fabricio Coloccini is near to become the first Depor's field player to complete the perfect mark of 3,420 minutes in one single liga season (the complete 38 matches). Since Deportivo's last promotion to Primera Divisi??n back on the season 1991/1992, eleven players have been able to perform in all the matches of one single liga campaign, but only three of them played the 90 minutes in each game.

And the three cases were goalkeepers: Francisco Lia?o (season 1993/94),  Francisco Molina (season 2005/2006) and Dudu Aouate (2007/2008). Meaning that Coloccini will be the first Depor's field player to achieve the mark. The Argentinean has played everything on the present liga season and has just missed one of the two legs in copa del rey against RCD Espanyol. The central defender has been a key piece in Lotina's scheme and an important fact is that he has only saw two yellow cards, mostly because he has only committed twenty two fouls (six per match).

The 11 Depor's men that have played 38 matches in one single season since the last promotion:

This kind of cases are weird in present times. In fact, there isn't any field player in la liga that has achieved this mark since nine years ago. The last case was Antonio Karmona with Alav?s during the season 1998/1999. And one year before, there were two cases: Joseba Etxeberria (Athletic Bilbao) and Enrique Romero (RCD Mallorca). This last one signed for Depor one season later.

And there are other precedents in Depor's history at Primera Divisi??n. There are twelve men that have played completely the whole liga season with Depor, but in those cases, Primera Divisi??n was composed by 18 or even by 16 clubs, not by 20 like on the present seasons. The last Depor's field player that completed a perfect mark in one single season was Manuel R?os Quintanilla 'Manolete', a midfielder that played completely the 34 matches of the season 1971/72.

The 12 perfect marks of the past:

And Coloccini wants more, he has now the option to play the Olympic Games in Beijing, a possibility that he explained last week to reporters "They called me for a friendly game against Catalunya, it seems there's a possibility to go to the Olympics because Demichelis is having problems to get the permission from Bayern Munich. Let's hope I will be able to do it, it will be pretty. I already went to the Olympic Games (Athens 2004) and it looked to me as a pretty competition."
