THE LOANED PLAYERS

16 Jun 2008
Mixed luck for Depor's loaned players during the season 2007/2008. Rodri, Momo, Aythami, Pablo Alvarez and Adrin were the ones that took advantage of their loans and made a progress in their careers, while Iago, Jairo and Alcntara didn't have too many chances and ended stuck at their clubs.

The season in Segunda Divisin ended during the past weekend, six of the eight loaned players by Depor for the season 2007/2008 were participating in this category, the curiosity is that the man with more minutes was the one performing in the team that ended relegated to Segunda B (Rodri at Polideportivo Ejido). The other two players were at Primera with Racing (Pablo Alvarez) and at Segunda B with Cartagena (Carlos Alcntara).

Rodri was the player that had more minutes during his loan period at Poli Ejido, he played 24 of the 42 games disputed in Segunda Divisin. He missed almost the half the season for an injury and was a key piece in the centre of the defence. However, Poli Ejido had a poor season in a general sense and ended relegated to Segunda B after the squad occupied the last place in the table (22nd). But the experience should be considered as positive for the Catalan defender.

Similar luck for Momo and Aythami with Xerez CD. The squad ended in mid-table but both players had a positive performance. Momo arrived since the beginning of the season and played 32 matches with the squad, he was always appointed as an important players in the offensive tasks. Meanwhile, Aythami joined the team during the winter window and was able to play in all the possible minutes since his arrival (20 matches). Xerez suffered six straight defeats since Aythami's arrival, but later it improved and even ended the season with three consecutive clean sheets.

Pablo Alvarez also lived a good moment since his arrival to Racing Santander during the winter window, he was an important piece for coach Marcelino, and his work was so impressive that the president of the Cantabrian club has said lately that he wants to negotiate with Lendoiro a final transfer. Striker Adrin also lived good moments with Alavs although he only played ten games there, but its that the attacker scored three goals that helped to achieve the permanence.

The three players that spent tough times were Iago Iglesias, Jairo and Carlos Alcntara. Iago was promising to be an interesting option for Elche, but he suffered two serious injuries during the season and the midfielder ended only playing twelve games with the squad. Elche had a buyout option over Iago, but they won't execute it.

Jairo's case was more complex, the Asturian midfielder played at Fabril during the first part of the season and for the second he was loaned to Alaves. In both teams he had difficulties to find his momentum and never appeared to be the promising player that Deportivo signed. The disastrous case was Alcntara, he never counter in CF Cartagena and was destined to be the replacement of Juan Cabrejo at the left-back position, the minutes he spent on the pitch were just the ones in which Cabrejo was suspended or injured.
