THE ENDURANCE TESTS

07 Jul 2008
Juan Rodr?guez and Pablo ?lvarez had the best marks after the endurance tests made at Abegondo during the weekend. In a general sense, Eduardo Dom?nguez –Depor’s physical trainer- emphasised the good condition of the whole squad after the vacations.

The endurance tests consist in running throughout the football pitch during a minimal time, and as many occasions as the player resists with a pause after each run. The mark that’s considered as optimums is 18 and the two players that reached the higher marks were Pablo ?lvarez and Juan Rodr?guez. The first one registered 21 and the Andalusian midfielder 22.

Eduardo Dom?nguez showed his satisfaction for the tests and assured that this season marks have been better than the ones of the last pre-season, as the coach explained the issue to newspaper La Voz de Galicia â€?We have measured the cardiovascular fitness with a test that will be repeated once again in September, during the break we will have at that month, in this way we will witness the evolution of each player. Today’s results compared to the ones had on the last year are a little better.â€?

This improvement should be understood as a good signal for the Intertoto cup, as Dom?nguez explained to La Voz â€?The team possess the condition we wanted for this moment of the pre-season, they are in the proper state that give us the tools to compete in Intertoto with dignity and without the risks of the injuries. We aren’t at the top, but we are going in the right direction.â€?

About the marks of Pablo ?lvarez and Juan Rodr?guez, Dom?nguez reminded that some players shine in these kinds of tests while others do it in different areas â€?There are players that for their capacity and their role on the pitch have a great endurance capacity. Others have less but they shine in velocity or strength. In any case, the data is confidential and we reserve the information for us.â€?
