The results of the weekend have given to Deportivo the fourth position in the table, a spot that's important in order to aspire to the Champions League. A tournament that for some fans wasn't in the list of objectives for the present season. Now the Galicians have to face two home games that could help them to tie up a place in the most important tournament of the continent.

Before to the beginning of la liga everyone agreed that the main objective of the season was to return into the European competitions, after 18 matchdays the goal still the same, but the fact of reaching a Champions League spot just one week before to the end of the fist round is awakening the most optimistic views in La Coru?a.

Currently the situation is very tight between the second position and the eight place (the last spot that gives a door to Europe trough the Intertoto). Seven club are separated by ten points and with Osasuna (39 points) facing two tough visits in the next weeks (Valencia and Villarreal) the differences could be reduced. The calendar is more positive for Deportivo (32) since they will face at Riazor two teams that are fighting in order to avoid the relegation: Alav?s and Mallorca.

The other team in European zone that will face two consecutive games at home is Real Madrid (30), but one of this confrontations is against the always dangerous Sevilla, and the other match is against C??diz, another club fighting in the relegation zone. Valencia (33) has also a complicated calendar since they have to receive Osasuna an later travel to Sevilla in order to face Betis. Villarreal (31) has an accessible visit to Santander on the next matchday, but the confrontation with Osasuna is a must-win-game if they want to continue in the run.

Celta (29) has two key visits to Getafe and M??laga. The Galician neighbours were losing some stamina since they accumulated three consecutive defeats, but the victory against Real Sociedad (1-0) has stopped the panic. Sevilla (29) is the other team fighting for a European place and after the confrontation against Real Madrid they will travel to Santander, a game that could be manageable for them.

The matches against Alav?s and Mallorca will be good opportunities to improve Depor's home record, the Galicians accumulates three defeats in Riazor on the present season with only four victories achieved. Despite of the optimism in the fans Caparr??s wanted to avoid any lack of concentration for the rest of the season, a fact that he appointed on Monday: "Our current position is only circumstantial. The important thing is to maintain the balance in the squad. La Liga is a tournament that need regularly and the win in Bilbao will be worthless if we don't achieve the points in the next match."
