07 Sep 2008
Andr?©s Guardado scored a goal and gave an assist for Mexico’s victory over Jamaica, while De Guzm??n and Bodipo lost the World Cup qualifying games with their respective squads. Omar Bravo and Fabricio didn’t see action. Finally, Aouate’s Israel achieved a last-minute goal that meant a point.

The weekend was full of qualifying matches for the next FIFA World cup. Six Depor’s players saw action with their national teams. The one with better luck was Andr?©s Guardado, the left winger scored a goal and gave an assist in Mexico’s 3-0 win over Jamaica. Guardado scored his goal in a perfect executed free-kick at minute two, while he took the corner that Jonny Magall??n sent to the back of the net for the third goal. The true is that Guardado didn’t shine too much in the game tough he appeared in the precise moment to help his squad achieve the three points.

Omar Bravo didn’t see action in this game since coach Sven Goran Eriksson kept him on the bench for the entire game. In this same group of the CONCACAF region (group one), Julian de Guzm??n played with Canada during the 1-2 defeat against Honduras. The match was played in Montreal and despite the great game made by Depor’s midfielder, who performed for the fully ninety minutes, his team wasn’t able to hold on the early goal of Adri??n Serious and ended defeated. Now both Canada and Mexico will collide on Wednesday in Chiapas, a new win for Mexico will almost put them in the final round, while Canada could be close to be eliminated after only achieving one point in two home encounters.

Meanwhile, Dudu Aouate saw action in the opening game of Israel in the road to South Africa 2010. His team Israel drew at home against Switzerland (2-2), but the point tasted as gold as Israel scored its two goals during the final seventeen minutes, goals that were scored by Yossi Benayoun (73')and Ben Sahar (90'). Aouate played the fully ninety minutes on this game. Now Israel travels to Chisinau in order to face Moldavia on Wednesday.

Other player that saw action in the World cup qualifiers was Rodolfo Bodipo, his team Equatorial Guinea lost against Sierra Leone at Freetown (1-2). The striker played the fully ninety minutes. Now Equatorial Guinea is already eliminated in the four group of Africa, because they only have 3 points against 15 of Nigeria and 7 of Sierra Leone. The final game for Bodipo’s squad will take place on Thursday against South Africa, tem that’s playing the tournament despite been already qualified for the World Cup.

Finally, young keeper Fabricio was on the bench during Spain’s U-21 squad victory over Kazakhstan (1-2). The starting keeper was Valladolid’s Sergio Asenjo. Xisco, who recently signed for Newcastle United, was a started too tough he didn’t score a goal.
