It seems clear that Andr?©s Guardado won’t appear in the starting eleven for the upcoming game against Valencian team Villarreal. On Friday coach Miguel Angel Lotina decided to make this decision because the Basque trainer wants to use him for Thursday’s game in the UEFA Cup tie Against SK Brann. As it stands, there are still a few question that needs to answered regardings the participation of De Guzm??n and Verd?? as to whether or not they will start the match.

Lotina has decided to shuffle the squad around planning ahead for the UEFA Cup 1st leg tie against SK Brann. The first casualty is Andr?©s Guardado who will not play the game against Villarreal since he played both matches in Mexico’s World Cup qualifying games against Jamaica and Canada. This is a precautionary measure in order to protect and preserve the player after the stress fracture he suffered at the end of the last Liga campaign.

On Friday, the club announced Guardado won’t even travel to Villarreal and that he will stay in La Coru?±a for the weekend. However this shouldn’t be a surprise to all and as it was expected the Mexican winger will be rested. It seems certain that Angel Lafita will take his place on the left wing. The Aragonian is now ready to debut in this Liga season after being classified match fit following on from an Appendicitis injury.

Furthermore, all indications are Lotina will keep playing with a 4-2-3-1 formation, but the two doubts are if Julian De Guzm??n will be fit to play and if Lotina will persist with Joan Verd?? or if he will give a chance to veteran Juan Carlos Valer??n behind the striker. The Canarian playmaker was in good pre-season form, but he wasn’t given an opportunity in the opening game against Real Madrid.

Meanwhile, De Guzm??n didn’t arrive in La Coru?±a as per schedule for the Friday training session after his plane from Mexico was delayed after playing Thursday morning in the World Cup qualifying game against Mexico. As a result, Lotina has a few questions about his presence and whether he’ll be fit to play in the starting eleven for the game on Sunday. His place could be taken by Juan Rodr?guez. Conversely, Lotina might be tempted to put De Guzm??n directly in the line-up for the game against Villarreal since he’s suspended for the UEFA Cup trip to Norway against SK Brann.

In Addition, Guardado and Omar Bravo arrived on time for Friday’s training session after their World Cup qualification matches in which they were both key figures in. Also, Dudu Aouate returned from International duty with his national team Israel.
