Mexico almost fails at Edmonton but it was able to gain a point in a complicate game against Canada. Guardado played the ninety minutes while Omar Bravo entered during the second half. Meanwhile Israel was close to defeat Latvia at Riga, Aouate was the Israeli keeper in that game.

Andr?©s Guardado played completely the ninety minutes in the 2-2 draw between Mexico and Canada, while Omar Bravo entered at minute 67 replacing Arsenal’s Carlos Vela. It was a disappointing result for the Mexicans since they were facing a team that was already eliminated and that was playing without six key men, starting with Depor’s Julian de Guzm??n. The media in Mexico, which is always very demanding with the national team, criticised Eriksson’s squad for its poor performance outside home, specially the players that perform in Europe.

But the exception was Guardado, because he was the best player in the match, the one that worked harder on the pitch. The papers emphasised his performance and called him the best man in the game. However, he only had one opportunity to score, it was a long run on the left wing that ended with a drilling shot that was contained by keeper Lars Hirschfeld. About Omar Bravo, he never had a chance to score during the 23 minutes he spent on the pitch.

Despite Mexico only collected one point in the last two matches, the squad of Sven Goran Eriksson still has big chances of reaching the last-six round in CONCACAF. They will visit Honduras on November 19 and only a big tragedy will eliminate them, because it will be necessary a strange combination of results for it (Mexico losing by one goal and Jamaica defeating Canada by six as example).

Meanwhile, Dudu Aouate played the ninety minutes of the 1-1 draw between Israel and Latvia. Despite been playing away from home (the game was played in Riga), the result can be considered as disappointing, because the Israeli squad was wining the match until the last minute, moment in which Vladimirs Kolesnicenko beat Aouate.

At least things stay the same for Israel in the European group number two, because Greece surprisingly lost against Switzerland in Piraeus (1-2). Aouate’s team still second in the group, but now just one point behind the Greeks and it stills undefeated after four games (two wins and two draws). Israel plays until March in the road to South Africa 2010, it will be a key home game against Greece (March 28).
