Lotina told Bodipo to search for a new club during the pre-season, but he preferred to stay and fight for a place at the squad. After starting surrounded by shadows, the Guinean attacker has emerged as an important player for Depor, actually he’s the striker with the better percentage of effectiveness at the team.

The season 2007/2008 was terrible for Rodolfo Bodipo, the striker signed from Alav?©s two seasons ago was coming out of a terrible knee injury and found himself out of shape. He just scored one goal after 19 appearances in la liga, and the fans started to hate him for been wasting too many chances to score the goals.

But his enthusiasm as been a pleasant surprise during the preset campaign, he started out of the games as he wasn’t called up for the Intertoto, the first series in UEFA against Hajduk Split or the first two liga matches of the season. He debuted on the campaign until September 21 this after he performed for 14 minutes during the scoreless draw with RCD Mallorca, but it was understood as an accident’ since he was present in the list due to the injury of Riki.

But Bodipo has found the way to convince Lotina and little by little he started to enjoy of more playing time, he offered good games but without scoring goals. It was until October 28 when Bodipo had the opportunity to score a goal during an official match, it was for the Copa first-leg against Elche. Then it was evident the ex-Alav?©s attacker would be enjoying of more opportunities than everybody thought at the start of the season.

However a spark in his personal season occurred at the end of November, he had to be replaced during the liga game against Athletic Bilbao due to a knee sprain and it was announced he would be out of action for one month. It seemed Bodipo would start again to face problems with the injuries, but he surpassed the difficulty really quickly and three weeks later he was part of the squad picked for the important game with Nancy in UEFA.

And Bodipo claimed for a spot at the squad after he scored the goal that gave the pass to the round of 32, he replaced Guardado at minute 72 and scored his goal two minutes later. Three days after this, he returned to take a place in the starting lineup and scored with a nice header one of the four goals that leaded Depor to the last liga win over Recreativo de Huelva, in this way Bodipo has been able to score a goal in three competitions (UEFA, liga and Copa), only surpassed by Riki who has also scored in Intertoto.

However and as the table shows up, Bodipo surpass Riki in the fact that he needs less time to score a goal, taking in mind all the competitions disputed by Depor on this season (liga, Copa , UEFA and Intertoto), Bodipo needs 123.33 minutes in order to score a goal, while Riki almost need the double of that time. Actually, Bodipo is the scorer with the best percentage among the four strikers at Deportivo.

It is true the stats of Depor’s attackers aren’t so impressive, but Bodipo’s mark of needed minutes in order to score is not too far from the ones of a la liga star like David Villa (1 goal every 119.33 minutes), and actually is better than the ones of Villarreal’s Rossi (130.33) or Atletico’s Kun’ Aguero (128.78). Only Samuel Eto’o is crushing the competence with an amazing average of 1 goal every 79.53 minutes.
