MORE DOUBTS IN THE COPA CLASH WITH VALENCIA

30 Jan 2006
Deportivo continues in their quest of invalidating the resolution of the Spanish Football Federation that determined the continuation of the copa match with Valencia at the Mestalla. The game should be restarted tomorrow, but a new petition by Depor to the ordinary justice could delay the date of the match.

Yesterday it was known that the Supreme Sporting Council (CSD) decided to ignore the petition made by Deportivo in order to take action in the case of the copa incidents at the Mestalla. The Galicians wanted to invalidate the previous resolution made by the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) in which the game was programmed to restart tomorrow behind close doors.

Lendoiro and Depor's lawyers didn't want to play the rest of the game, at least in Mestalla. They understood that an international agreement signed by the CSD establish tougher punishments against the infracting clubs rather than the ones dictated by the RFEF's resolution. Now that the CSD has ignored the petition Depor's officials are ready to attend the only choice they have: the ordinary justice.

Canaldeportivo.com has announced that the club has presented a motion in a local court, the petition requests the temporal suspension of the match in Valencia claiming that's the only way to act since the sporting authorities didn't want to take part in the case. What Depor wants is to play the rest of the game, but the club doesn't want to do it in Mestalla since it thinks that this is an advantage for the club that committed the fault. The Galicians want to play in another stadium and they are also asking for compensation of the expenses that the team would incur in a new trip to Valencia.

It has been announced that the Court No.2 of the National Audience will hear the positions of both clubs during the morning, the game will be played depending of the resolution made by the court. The club also announced that if a negative response is received they are ready to play tomorrow, but they affirm that the club will continue with their quest in the courts no matter the result of the quarterfinals’ series with Valencia.

Meanwhile, the team has continued in the preparation of the match, a fact that the defender Juanma explained after Monday's training at Abegondo: "The case is a theme of the club, they will know what to do. We are here in order to do what they tell us to do. We are preparing our match in Mestalla and in the beginning I can tell you that we are desiring to play the game."
