THE FIRST ROUND OF FABRIL

06 Jan 2009
Tough times for Fabril, the squad coached by Tito Ramallo has ended the first round just one point above the abysm. The following is a review of Depor B during the first round, period of time that could be divided in three sectors according to the results.

Not the best of the starts for Deportivo B, the squad coached by Tito Ramallo is ending the first round at Segunda B just one point above relegation and with a lot of things to be improved. In a general sense the performance in the first round could be divided in three sections. The first between matchday 01 and 09, in that period of time the team just added four draws and suffered five defeats.

  LEMONA  2 -   DEPORTIVO B   1

  DEPORTIVO B   0 -   SESTAO RIVER  1

  REAL SOCIEDAD B  1 -   DEPORTIVO B  1

  DEPORTIVO B  0 -   GUIJUELO  2

  PONFERRADINA  2 -   DEPORTIVO B  0

  DEPORTIVO B  1 -   CELTA B  1

  PONTEVEDRA  1 -   DEPORTIVO B  1

  DEPORTIVO B   0 -   REAL UNION  2

  DEPORTIVO B  0 -   REAL RACING B  0

It was the darkest moment of Fabril, period of time in which the squad committed error after error and showed its miseries. Key players like Iv??n Carril, Nacho Matador and Sergio Benito disappointed with their performance and Ramallo was never able to find the solutions. It was until matchday 10 that Depor B was able to conquer its first liga victory (2-1 over Sporting Gij??n B).

And it coincided with the exit of Iv??n Carril and Nacho Matador from the lineups, later Sergio Benito joined the duo after been sent off in that same match against Sporting B. Then the squad passed from the shadows to glory, because in the next five matches the squad added four victories and one draw. This was the second period of Fabril during the first round (between matchdays 10 and 14)

  REAL SPORTING B  1 -   DEPORTIVO B  2

  DEPORTIVO B  1 -   MARINO LUANCO  0

  BILBAO ATH.  1 -   DEPORTIVO B  1

  DEPORTIVO B  1 -   BARAKALDO  0

 VALLADOLID B  0 -   DEPORTIVO B  2

It was also the moment in which David Rochela was transformed into a defensive midfielder, and also the times were Iv??n P?rez and Lassad woke up with their assistances and goals. Also youngster Chirri started to shine and proved to be the revulsive of the squad during the second halves, as when he came out from the bench to score the winning goal over Barakaldo (1-0 at matchday 13).

It seemed that Deportivo B was reacting and that was going to leave once and for all the danger zone, but then the third period on the first round showed up, and it was an intermediary zone, because the squad neither shined nor was the terrible squad of the beginning. And it’s that Depor B just added three draws within the last five matches of the first round, while it suffered two defeats (between matchday 15 and 19).

  DEPORTIVO B  1 -   C. LEONESA  1

  LUGO  2 -   DEPORTIVO B  1

  DEPORTIVO B  1 -  CIUDAD SANTIAGO  1

  RACING FERROL  2 -   DEPORTIVO B  1

  DEPORTIVO B  2 -   ZAMORA  2

The worrying thing in this last period is that the players committed huge errors that just showed the lack of concentration at the squad, and it’s that in two of the three draws the squad was winning the game until the final five minutes, and then an error caused the loss of two points, first it was against Ciudad de Santiago (matchday 17) as ex-Depor Maikel tied the things just five minutes before the end, later it was in the last matchday, game in which Depor was equalised twice by Zamora though Ramallo’s team had two more men on the pitch.

Now Ramallo must correct the errors and find the solutions if he wants to keep the team at Segunda B for one more year, a thing to have in mind is that Fabril’s coach has missed several pieces throughout the season due to injuries, actually he currently has the casualties of Hugo Garc?a, Chema (both pubalgy), Manu (finger) and Marcos Caridad (knee).

THE INDIVIDUAL PERFORMANCE
No matter the things are not as good as the past season, there are some good news related to the individual performance of some players. Starting with Lassad Nouioui, the French striker already scored eight goals on the season and has taken his tally to sixteen since he joined Depor B exactly one year ago. He’s currently second in the list of the Pichichi in the group and is tied with ex-Real Sociedad veteran Oscar de Paula.

Other player shinning in attack is Iv??n P?rez, he’s the best assistor at the team with nine assists so far, many of them through set pieces and after a combination with the same Lassad. Together with Juanan, they are the only two players that have participated in all the games of the first round (17 times as starter for P?rez). Aridane Santana is other player that must be emphasised, he started the season injured, but he has scored three times after just six matches played, he could become important in the second round. Finally Chirri has demonstrated to be the future of Fabril, he’s one of the youngest players at the squad and the revulsive that usually changes the games on the second halves, the ex-Villarreal  already scored one goal on the season.

No matter the squad already leaked 22 goals on the season, there are good news in defense too. Starting with Manu, goalkeeper that’s growing, even Lotina said at the end of 2008 that the Asturian is improving and that he could become a reference for the first squad soon. Other important piece in the sector is Juanan, central defender that’s the only player that has started the fully 19 matches of the first round, actually he only missed 45 minutes due to an injury (matchday 16 at Lugo). The work of David Rochela should be also emphasised, the youngster was promoted on this season from Juvenil A, but he’s already a fixed man in the formations, firstly as a central defender and now as a defensive midfielder. Newcomers as David Seoane (right-back, 14 matches on the season), Dani (midfielder, 17 games), Antonio Del Castillo (central defender, 13 appearances) and French Momar Diagne (defensive midfielder, 16 games) have also been important in the lineups of Ramallo.

In the negative side, central defender Marcos Caridad is the only player at the squad that hasn’t debuted yet on the season. The A Coru?a-born youngster was promoted on this season from Juvenil A but a knee injury has prevented his debut, he could be loaned out during the winter window. Goalkeeper Alberto was other player that didn’t have any game on the season, but he debuted on the last Sunday against Zamora (2-2). Other players without too many participation are left-back Arturo Garc?a (3 matches), goalkeeper Marcos Val?n (5 games) and midfielder Jose Mar?a P?rez ?Chema’, this last one was signed during the past summer from Rayo Vallecano, but has only played two times due the injuries.
