THINKING OF BARCELONA

15 Jan 2009
Depor visits the Camp Nou in the most complicate game of the season, Lotina will probably return to use his normal squad in liga, though he already announced that Cristian will be a starter. At Barcelona Messi and Iniesta are slightly injured, though both should be ready for Saturday.

At this moment of the season, the visit to the Camp Nou is probably the most complicate challenge that any Spanish –even European- team can face. Barcelona has only lost twice on this season (one in liga and one in Champions League) and it has been normal’ to watch Guardiola’s team crushing the rivals at home, even big ones like Valencia (4-0) and Atletico Madrid (6-1) have fell down over there.

Lotina started to prepare the game against the Catalans on Thursday’s morning, the players that were starters in Copa just completed a few exercises while the rest made a more complete session. The good news is that Riki is already fit to play and he will probably take the spot of Omar Bravo in the list, the Mexican is suspended after been sent off against Sevilla. The bad news is that Laure has been ruled out of the game due to an abductor problem, injury that will keep him out of action during seven days, the Canarian might also miss the next match with Real Madrid.

On Friday the squad will train again during the morning and Lotina will release the list of called players after the session, later the squad will travel to Barcelona on the afternoon. It’s expected that Lotina will use a similar squad to the one that faced Sevilla in liga, though he already announced that Cristian will be a starter in the match, Surely Cristian will play on Saturday at Barcelona. Over there we need long runs and he has more of this than Lafita, that’s why he didn’t play today. Confession made by the Basque coach after the defeat in Copa.

Meanwhile, Barcelona is preparing the game with confidence, but with some doubts, Lionel Messi (ankle), Andr?©s Iniesta (thigh), Sergi Busquets and Daniel Alv?©s (both muscular) didn’t train on Thursday since they were struggling from the injuries suffered in the Copa clash with Atl?©tico. However it’s expected they will be fit for Saturday’s encounter. Other players like Samuel Eto’o and Terry Henry were rested in midweek and they should be fresh in order to face Deportivo.
