WAITING FOR VERDU

27 Mar 2009
The agent of Verd?? had a meeting with Lendoiro during Wednesday’s training and both parties agreed in the duration of the new contract: 3 years. But the player is currently studying the economic proposition from the club, a resolution could be ready in 24 hours.

Joan Verd?? could be the first player to be renewed by Lendoiro for the upcoming summer window. The agent of the midfielder, M??gico D?az, has had a couple of meetings with president Augusto C?©sar Lendoiro, the last one on Wednesday’s night and according to several sources in La Coru?±a, both sides agreed in the duration of the new contract: 3 years (until 2012).

However, the deal was not closed on Thursday’s morning (Wednesday’s meeting lasted until 6AM), because the economical conditions aren’t convincing the player, apparently there is no improvement compared to the current wages as Lendoiro prefers to include incentives according to the team’s performance.

After Thursday’s training, Verd?? knew nothing of the meeting between Lendoiro and D?az, though he tried to be optimist about his continuity at Deportivo, as he said at Abegondo’s press room, â€?"My agent has told me there's interest from other clubs, but he didn't mention names. To Deportivo, I am telling what I want, and if they accept, there's nothing more to talk. I hope everything will be solved soon."

In the end, both parties decided to establish new contacts in 48 hours (Sunday), meaning that by the start of the next week, the Catalan could be accepting the terms of Lendoiro. It could be the first renewal for the upcoming season. The other players of the first squad ending contract in June are Manuel Pablo, Pablo Alvarez, Gustavo Mun??a, Pablo Amo, Julian de Guzm??n and Sergio.

To Pablo Alvarez Lendoiro already offered a three-year renewal, while Sergio and Manuel Pablo are waiting for novelties since both want to sign a two-year renewal. Gustavo Mun??a and Pablo Amo haven’t been contacted by the club, and Julian de Guzm??n is waiting to resolve first an image right dispute with the club. The Canadian could take his case to the courthouse in July.
