THE NEGOTIATIONS CONTINUE

16 Apr 2009
President Lendoiro is advancing with the negotiations held with the players ending contract in June. Now Depor’s boss is offering a two-year deal to both, Manuel Pablo and Sergio, though the economical aspect is delayed any signing.

Lendoiro gave a step forward in order to renew two of the player ending contract in June: Sergio and Manuel Pablo. Since the beginning, Depor’s president was offering one more year of contract plus a clause that was giving the option to extend it for an additional year, option that would depend of the numbers of games played with the squad during next season. But both players denied the agreement because they were asking for a two-year contract, that means a deal without any extension option.

And in the last days, Lendoiro accepted the petition of the players, on Tuesday Depor’s boss had a meeting with the father of Sergio, Avelino Gonzalez, and in the reunion he communicated the news. Ten days before, the same Lendoiro talked on the phone with Antonio Morales, the agent of Manuel Pablo, and he told him the same thing.

However, in both cases the players aren’t satisfied with the economical proposition, therefore the money is now the fact blocking any signing, at least in these two cases. Antonio Morales explained the situation as he talked to a reporter, It was clear that Manuel Pablo is physically fit for two more years, even for three, without problem. Depor has agreed to give him two seasons, but the economic numbers are still distant. We still wearing the jacket of patience and we aren’t negotiating with anyone. We have only reported to a few clubs in Spain and abroad, what will be the situation in June of Manuel Pablo."

And Lendoiro talked on radio Onda Cero during Thursday, he was saying that Depor will not raise the offer to both players, "We can’t go further. We gave up in the years and the economic differences are something we can’t alleviate. It is the offer we have put over the desk and hopefully we could reach an agreement. We were able to extend the duration of the contract, but not in the economic aspect, because the situation doesn’t give for more." Finally, the president admitted he will have a meeting with Lotina in the upcoming days, but it won’t be to deal with his renewal, but to talk about some sporting issues.
