Brazilian midfielder Juca passed his medical on Friday and later signed his contract with Deportivo. His first interview was held with the official newspaper of the club; Depor Sport. He talked about his skills and how he arrived at the Galician club.

Q: How does it feel to be so close to signing for Depor?
A: I am very happy to have the opportunity to play at one of the greatest teams in Spain and in a league as strong and competitive as this one. I hope to have the same success as in Serbia.

Q: What did you know about Depor?
A: I knew that many Brazilians, like Bebeto and Mauro Silva, had made history in this team. My coaches in Serbia, Jokanovic and Djukic also played here.

Q: Did Jokanovic as well as Djukic encourage you to come?
A: Yes, they gave me excellent references about the club and the city. I want to get noticed for my football. I hope to match the expectations of everyone.

Q: When did you know about Depor’s interest?
A: It was fifteen days ago. My agent told me about this opportunity and I was very pleased. Depor is one of the six or seven best teams in Spain and will fight for the title next season.

Q: What are the virtues of Juca?
A: It’s hard to talk about myself, but I’m a very competitive player. I prefer to wait and see people watching me on the pitch think.

Q: Many speak of Juca as a great professional
A: Yes, that’s true. I believe this is one of my characteristics. I like to be prepared in order to be in the best possible condition and help the team as much as possible.

Q: They also comment you're good at taking free-kicks and you are even nicknamed "Bomber"
A: Yes, the truth is that I train this aspect in order to score goals.

Q: Do you prefer a powerful shot or a well placed effort?
A: Everybody has their own resources and I will improve during training. I prefer not to reveal my skills.

Q: Do you know any players from the current team?
A: Yes, Luis Filipe. Not personally, but I already saw him playing and I think he’s an excellent footballer. I hope he will help me at the beginning. Guardado also seems to be an excellent player. We can make a strong and competitive team and try to conquer all the tournaments in which we participate.

Q: Do you know something of the city? It rains a lot,  though it’s sunny these days, hot weather...
A: That is no problem for me. In Belgrade, I spent a lot of cold days and a lot of heat in Brazil. I consider myself a very quiet person and I'm only here to work and find a spot at the team.
