DEJA VU FOR BODIPO

05 Sep 2009
Striker Rodolfo Bodipo is living again the same nightmare of the past season, moment in which he was discarded by Lotina. He seemed to have a secure place in the plans of the Basque coach, but now he is resigned to start from zero again.

At the start of the 2008/2009 campaign, coach Miguel Angel Lotina told to Rodolfo Bodipo that he wasn’t entering into his plans, in the end the Equatoguinean attacker played in several opportunities and turned to be an important piece in some key moments of the season as he scored five goals, something that seemed like his final consecration at Deportivo.

But Bodipo is living the same things just one year later, one week before the start in liga it was said that he was a discard and was even left out of the list of picked players for the last friendly against Osasuna, and even from the opening day against Real Madrid. It was rumoured that it was a decision of Lotina, but later it was appointed that it was a decision of the club in the quest to reduce the number of players at the squad. On Wednesday it was know that Real Betis contacted Bodipo in the last hour of the summer market, but nothing was closed with the Andalusian club.

On Thursday, the ex-Alavés forward talked at the press room of Abegondo and explained the bitter week that he lived, "I don't understand anything, and I am quite disappointed right now, because each year I have to start from zero. It seems my numbers of the past season are useless. I did the merits on the past season. I was the fifth or the sixth striker, and I ended as the starting choice. So what happened was a pitch of cold water. Right now I am disappointed, but I am strong and despite it will be hard to surpass this, I will do it."

Bodipo also explained that he already had a conversation with Lotina and that he explained the situation to him, “The coach was surprised with all that happened, so do I. He explained the things to me, he told me that it wasn’t him who opened the door out, but what occurred is something I don’t understand and that I will never understand. When the coach tells me that he trust more in other strikers, I respond to him that I am not worried, because I trust in my abilities, but now nobody should demand the same motivation I had during the pre-season. At the time I even said that I wanted to be the number one in my position, but now the feeling is that each summer I have to start from -10.”
