LOTINA TALKS ABOUT SEVILLA

14 Oct 2009
Miguel Angel Lotina gave a press conference on Monday and analysed the rival for Saturday’s game at the Riazor. At the same time, he expressed his worries about the situation of Guardado and the other international players.

Depor’s coach started the press conference analysing the rival for Saturday’s match, “We all know Sevilla, especially us due to what happened on the past season. Now the picture that we see is that they defeated Real Madrid in a convincing way. They are a strong team, one of the bests and with new incorporations that have reinforced their squad.”

“What we need to do in order to defeat a great team is to work harder; recharge our batteries and to do the right things. We want to see Depor matching the conditions of Sevilla, but for this we need to spend one full week working very hard, and not talking a lot.” The Basque added.

One of the worries of the coach is the physical state of the international players, especially Andrés Guardado, who performed during 89 minutes against El Salvador, and that will probably do the same on Wednesday at Trinidad & Tobago, which means that the Mexican will arrive late on Friday and will face the match against Sevilla without any training session completed with the Galician squad.

About this subject, Lotina said that, “In this matter both teams and more or less living the same situation. Everybody is affected by this situation, although it’s clear that as long as you have more international players it means the better quality in your team. I guess that Xérez would like to have seven international players in its squad. Let’s see how Guardado arrives. About Filipe I will like to see him debuting and playing the last game, the same with Lassad, who has options to play too.”

“For me, Filipe is the best, but I am not the one who makes the lineup of Brazil. For me he will be a starter in any team of the world, even in the Brazilian national team. They work like that, in several occasions Coloccini was spending ten hours in a plane just to not play any single minute, on here we are a little more cautious about this subject.” He added.

Finally, Lotina was complaining about the plans in la liga of switching the hour of the games in order to have a better TV coverage in Asia, “People are right when they complain. People can not attend to football on Saturday’s evenings, and neither can go shopping. It’s good to see that China is important for the Spanish football, but we live for our fans. I don’t want to play in front of 2,000 persons and with half China watching the game. First we should take care of the people on here, we drink the vermouth at three o clock and eat paella 30 minutes later; to see the other leagues in Europe doing it doesn’t mean we should do it too.”
