THINKING OF SEVILLA

15 Oct 2009
Lotina will wait until Friday in order to define the starting formation against Sevilla; the main doubt is if Guardado will arrive on time after playing with Mexico, while Juca remains doubtful for the clash.

Andrés Guardado was playing on Thursday’s morning at Trinidad & Tobago and the Mexican winger will not arrive to La Coruña until Friday’s night, therefore he won’t complete any training session with the squad before the encounter, and Lotina will decide until Saturday if he will be part of the starting lineup. Similar is the case of Filipe Luis, who was concentrated with Brazil, but the left-back defender has more chances to play against Sevilla, because he hasn’t been a starter in the World Cup qualifying games (Bolivia and Venezuela).

Striker Lassad Nouioui was also concentrated with Tunisia, but it isn’t probable that Lotina will use him after the injury problems suffered by the player in recent weeks.  In the meantime Depor trained behind closed doors at the Riazor. Striker Adrián is already fit to play, but Juca still doubtful and Lotina will decide about his inclusion in the game until Friday.

In the training that took place at the Riazor, Depor’s coach tested a 4-4-2 lineup with Juan Rodriguez taking the place of Juca in midfield, Mista performing on the right wing, Iván Pérez on the left, and the duo Bodipo-Adrian in attack. A thing that called the attention was to see the coach timing the counterattack of the team, which should bring an idea of the strategy that he’s planning for Saturday’s clash.

At Sevilla, the novelty was to see Frederic Kanoute joining the trainings after scoring the winning goal of Mali over Sudan, while Didier Zokora joined the group on Tuesday after clinching with Ivory Cost the ticket to the World Cup 2010. Also Lautaro Acosta was already working after a few weeks off due to an ankle injury.

However, several players remain in international duty and coach Manolo Jimenez will wait until today in order to check the status of his four players: Alvaro Negredo (Spain), Sebastien Squillaci, Julien Escudé (both with France) and Ivica Dragutinovic (Serbia), while central defender Fazio still doubtful due to an ankle problem.
