After nine matchdays in la liga, Lotina has tested seven different players for the position of right winger, which demonstrates that the Basque coach still has doubts about who should be the replacement of Angel Lafita.

Juan Rodríguez was the seventh player tested at the right wing in this start of season, the Andalusian midfielder is used to perform in different positions, but several fans were surprised to see him acting on that function during the past game against Sporting Gijón. However, it isn’t surprising after analysing the lineups used by Lotina after just nine matchdays.

After the departure of Angel Lafita, it was supposed that Pablo Alvarez was going to be his substitute at the right wing. However, ‘The Shark’ has only appeared five times as starter after the first nine matchdays, and only in four occasions he begun the encounter performing as right winger (Real Madrid, Xérez, Villarreal and Tenerife).

Against Malaga (matchday 02), Pablo Alvarez was part of the starting eleven, but was performing on the left sector, while Guardado was playing on the right wing. Movement made by Lotina from time to time in order to create surprise and that was already tested on past seasons with the same Guardado and with Lafita.

The first time that Lotina tested a different choice at the right wing was against RCD Espanyol (matchday 03), in that opportunity Madrilenian striker Riki covered the spot, later Mista did the same for ten minutes in the visit to Tenerife (matchday 06).

What calls the attention is that Lotina has not used Pablo Alvarez as starter within the last three matchdays, starting wit the victory over Sevilla FC (1-0), match in which the Basque manager surprised with the inclusion of youngster Iván Pérez, who failed in the mission and was replaced during the second half. Later Adrián covered the spot during the disappointing game at Valladolid, while Juan Rodriguez just did it against Sporting. Even Lassad did it for a few minutes during the game against Espanyol (after replacing Adrian in the second half).

All of this demonstrates that Lotina isn’t convinced yet about who is the best alternative that should be attacking by the right flank, so far he thinks that all the available choices are too predictable, “Right now we are more predictable in attack, we have lost Lafita and Verdú and things are more difficult for us, but that doesn’t mean we don’t have talented and good players.” the coach said before the game against Sporting. For the moment the coach is still thinking if the team must complete a singing for this position during the winter window.
