JUCA OUT OF THE GAME WITH ATLETICO

15 Nov 2009
A fourth player has been ruled out of next Saturday’s game against Atletico Madrid: midfielder Juca. The doctors at the club are optimistic about his recover, but it will be too soon for him as he now targets the visit of Barcelona.

The match against Atletico Madrid will be played until the next Saturday, but three players are already discarded for the occasion: Riki, Sergio and Angulo. The first two are suspended while the Colombian will be operated on Tuesday due to a knee injury. And on Saturday a fourth discard was confirmed: midfielder Juliano Antonello ‘Juca’.

On Friday he passed a scan and later doctor Ramón Barral told to reporters that “Our first impression is very positive and we hope he will be able to join the trainings starting on Monday.” But on Saturday, physical coach Eduardo Domínguez told to newspaper La Opinión A Coruña that this doesn’t mean he will be fit to face Atletico Madrid, actually he assured that the player needs to fulfill some kind of pre-season stage and that could be ready until the home game with Barcelona (December 5 or 6)

“Of course he won’t be ready to face Atletico. Juca needs to complete some kind of hurried pre-season stage, a little faster and intense, he needs to complete two or three weeks of preparation due to his style of playing. He is a strong player and needs to be physically prepared, therefore what he needs is more time in order to return into competition. Let’s see when he will be ready. We don’t know him a lot, so I don’t know if he will be ready soon or not. In other cases I would say the player needs two weeks, tough others need more time. Of course I see it almost impossible for the game with Atletico Madrid, and also for Racing Santander (November 28 or 29).” Domínguez said.

This just means new problems for Lotina, because the suspension of Sergio leaves him with only two options for the pivote functions: Antonio Tomás and Juan Rodriguez. The Basque already advanced that he might be calling youngster Juan Dominguez for next Saturday’s game at the Riazor. The midfielder has been injured lately, but already started to train although he missed yesterday’s game at Cerceda (0-1 defeat for Fabril).
